Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
I see some questions about AmiAmi here regarding shipping.
I use SAL which gets to me in 5 days every time (Japan to the UK) which is amusingly quicker than airmail and I believe slightly cheaper. "Small package" SAL shipping on a LE is roughly 1000 Yen. It's probably the same rate for both lighter and slightly heavier packages because they ship it in a box rather than a jiffy. The box definitely increases the chances of getting clobbered for Import taxes if that's applicable to where you live.

To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
To add to Plank's message, I have picked EMS on most of my orders, it gives a track number and the items are stuffed in a boxed package with a lot of paper "protecting" (?) the items inside, the package shows up within 2-5 days (depending on weekday/weekend working hours), sadly the postal service add import tax to it. I was thinking about checking out SAL if that works out better for Europe shipments.

If this didn't look like it was pretty much done already I would say you should offer it to them! It's probably within their rights to include it though you wouldn't be able to claim ownership.trap15 wrote:It'd be awesome if they added Ketsui Arrange
Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
It's all an actual port, so I don't think it's very likely that they would include it without assistance from me on what it does (it'd require more reverse engineering on their part), and I don't think they would do it even if I did tell them exactly what I did

Zeether-We escaped after Japon's earthquake (Family comes first) to England for a month, and we went back for the Olympics in Angleterre, also for a month. I'm thinking the latter was a once in a life-time experience not to be missed and I'm hoping the former was a once in a life time nightmare never to happen again to the same extent. Apart from that, it's been nearly a decade on the trot apart from the bi-yearly holidays home. Thank you one and all for all the interest regarding my movements.Skykid wrote:Extradition isn't what it used to be.Zeether wrote: I didn't know you still lived in Japan.

I've got this vision of two small groups of otaku sitting on two rows of candy cabs with their backs to eachother, uncomfortably aware of eachothers presence. This shit is high drama.JAPJAC wrote:Skykid-You're quite fond of your bitchy, snide remarks towards myself are you not? I suspect it only shows you up to be somewhat pathetic. 'Otaku' ('お宅') means 'house' in English. Someone whom is an 'otaku' (slang for 'Hikikomori' ('ひきこもり' or '引き籠もり') is a 'recluse' in Japanese. Someone so socially challenged that they can just stay in and live their lives through the safety of their on-line computers giving it large...system11 wrote:I've got this vision of two small groups of otaku sitting on two rows of candy cabs with their backs to eachother, uncomfortably aware of eachothers presence. Otaku therefore rarely venture outside, especially not to arcades, so it's clearly a contradiction in terms. They are mentally ill. I am not an otaku for one.
'Akiba-kei' or 'such-and-such maniac/fan' are more accurate in Japanese or 'such-and-such anorak', in English.

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
No. You're taking the literal meaning too literally. Like if I say "that game is cool", I'm not actually saying that the temperature is low, and no one understands it as that.JAPJAC wrote:Someone whom is an 'otaku' (slang for 'Hikikomori' ('ひきこもり' or '引き籠もり') is a 'recluse' in Japanese.
You've got the dictionary meaning of otaku correct, but no one has used it like that since 1985 or so. At least since the Otaku murder trial which brought the word out into public knowledge. It just means a maniac for something. My wife, my wifes mom, my co-workers, everyone uses it in that way. I've never heard it used to mean someone who "stays at home".
Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
No. In my day 'otaku' meant mentally ill recluse. Comparing someone to an ill murderer or referring to them as an 'otaku' where I'm from is borderline offensive. Someone whom is keen on cartoons, comics, fishing, cars, motorbikes, computer games etc ain't an 'otaku'.rancor wrote:No. You're taking the literal meaning too literally. It's a 'gay' day out, don't want to be like an otaku, I'm off to Akihabara.

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
ok - well I guess that clears that up, then. You have your own meaning for words that aren't in step with popular usage. My grandfather said "niggers" loudly and openly up until the day he died a few years ago and saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's just the way he and his friends talked back in the 30's.. In his day it meant something different.JAPJAC wrote: No. In my day 'otaku' meant mentally ill recluse.
Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
I thought Otaku was a despective word used to describe this kind of people

Re: Ketsui comes to the PS3
I watched some AVGN on nico a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that they had translated "Angry Video Game Nerd" to "Angry Video Game Otaku" in the Japanese subtitles. I don't know if that was an accurate translation though.

Doesn't mean I'm called out each time for a big rumble in little Tokyo. That's less Otaku than it is immature idiot.
