It's quite a rarely seen one, for sure.
I've been looking at Yahoo JP, arcade forums, and eBay pages for many years now, and unlike the other "rare" CPS1 gems (Daimakaimura, Forgotten Worlds, Nemo), I could see only a couple of Mega Twins for sale.

PS: also I had forgotten how gorgeous this game is!

Skykid wrote:I've got an original Chiki boys poster, rarer than the board. (Not for sale.)

I'm not into posters personally, but it's definitely a beautiful collector's find.

Gawd, possibly if I took one way back when. It's a little frayed iirc but beggars can't be choosers. I'll scour the old photobucket account tomorrow to see if I have a pic.

Completely agree about this strange aura wich profits to DMM and FW, it seems to me I've also seen one for sale in a year, Nemo is pretty rare too by cons. ;)

Sorry about my ignorance but I didn't understand very well this sentence, what does it mean please ? Is it slang ?

Yep, playing Seta's Twin Eagle II running on the SSV arcade platform (a Sammy, Seta & Visco joint collaborative effort) at the Modesto, CA based Camelot Park amusement park (is known nowdays as Boomers) on a Dynamo upright cab back in 1994-1996 was ace. It did have an all-English move strip explaining what to do, etc. The various little FMV clips shown throughout the game were cool for it's time. It did get a proper stateside release for the American arcades back in the day...so yes, I was quite familiar with it. TE-2 was, certainly, known as a quarter/token muncher indeed.

Just a couple today..

New Zero Team - arrived with graphics faults, sold as working by sheepnova on ebay. I know what the fault is (pathetic soldering effort on a new ram chip), let's see what they do about it...

Image

Now for another rarity - Juno First!

Image

What's more rare than a Juno First? TWO Juno Firsts ;) I bought two sold as slightly faulty. One worked fine, the other had a bad cap, some bad solder on the other big caps, and an op-amp with a leg bent over *from the factory*. Both work fine now.

Not slang, just an English saying. ;)

It means when something is very difficult to get, you can't be too fussy about its condition if you are lucky enough to find one.
WarLord wrote:PS/ To scour ? :?
To search carefully and in great detail to find something.

Unfortunately I can't find the pic, even though I thought I had one. It's the same image as the flyer, but B1 and with a few company logos on there etc.

Man that's a HUGE number of EPROMs on the NARC. I wonder how many voice samples one can hold. It's only 4MB (or so), but with 64K EPROMs, it takes a long while to get there (60 ROMs - just counting ROMs common between revisions). Scarier than the game content :D

Really impressed with some of the finds in that haul, System11 :) Jump coaster looks nice, a bit surprised by all the ROMs in that one too, although I guess 1-8KB doesn't go too far, either :D

Thank you very much for the lesson skykid, kind from your part, really. ;)

Same about the poster, thx !

Edit : Didn't see system11 post, the PCBs eater ! :D
Juno First seems to be a mix between Space Invaders/Galaga and Xevious, isn't it ?

Feels more like defender meets galaga, its the bomb. Try it in MAME.

OK, thank you.

I never play MAME, I view some screenshots or watch some vidz in the worst case.
I played MAME a few times in the past and it doesn't reflect the arcade reality, truely not I feel so. :(

To keep the whole surprise when the PCB is just arrived at home, stays even the best. ;)

Another box.... Actually I just bought some of these to resell to make the postage cheaper, but I think I overpaid for them.

Sky Soldiers

Image

Blood Bros - this is one I bought to keep. A previous owner went retarded with a glue gun protecting the customs....

Image

Carrier Airwing

Image

Sky Smasher - this one is pretty interesting, it's got one of the earliest examples I know of, of a continuous bullet spread that tracks you, common in modern games.

Image

Bomberman World. Was supposed to be a Dynablaster board... Not the game I wanted.

Oh they'll have the last laugh, with Bomberman not being the game I actually wanted, I overpaid for it, be lucky to even offset postage now.

Ah ah ^^ I think I know who's the target behind that remark.
It happened I did the same as system11. But do not forget to make the difference between the hobbyist who buys his own stuff and resell from time to time to make things cheaper for himself; and the guy who frenetically buys and hoards items he doesn't care of but only to fulfill a resale profit purpose on a shitty website of his ;)

Nice purchases S11 by the way, I dig that N.Zero Team.

Sheepnova came out good on that - well, for me. For another buyer it might not have been as amicable. They gave me $100 back, nearly all of the purchase price. I repaired the crappy repair and it's fine now. For someone not able to fix boards, they'd have been left slightly out of pocket and with a broken game.

A friend of mine had the same kind of problem with a board bought from sheepnova.. Fortunately for him, it was just a capacitor, a bit loose, that needed some resoldering to get the sound back. Cheap and tempting prices from that seller, but you fall upon defective boards in the lot every now and then...

Was sorting PCBs the other day, and finally had another look at Mystic Riders.

The noise level is rather high, and is notable even when I've got the sound pot turned down very low (which is where I have it).

Video level is rather dim too.

I'm going to leave it be for now; if there is an issue it might just be capacitor-related and I don't feel inclined to fiddle with those right away.

Ed: does it clear up after crackling a bit when you turn it up while it's running? If so, it's a dirty volume pot and sometimes you can improve it by rotating the volume control all the way up and down several times (while it's switched off obviously). Is the edge connector clean?

Nothing you can do about the video, all M92 boards are like that. I had to jack the brightness up earlier to play Leo.

Hmm, I thought In the Hunt was brighter than this, but maybe it isn't. I'll give that edge connector and sound pot thing a look/try. Board was really clean when I got it, though, more so than usual. It's not really crackling or pops so much as noise, if that makes any sense.

The sound's not really a big deal, and if the video is standard then I'll finally rest assured about the board.

Just been speaking to a friend who is repairing various M92 PCBs at the moment, he says he's seeing amp noise from bad caps on them - C201 and C202 in the sound section, they were leaking though.

Nice NARC poster! I guess thats the PS2 version or something? I never played that. And yes that rom board is crazy. There is a guy on KLOV that bought a bulk lot of just the rom boards, and is now selling them to people who want to harvest the eproms off it (sad really).

Even the Irem M-92 powered PCB of Ninja Baseball Bat Man's video output is notorious for it's dim output...had crank up the brightness a tad bit. Soundwise, it's working 100% as it should be. Interesting to learn of the 750+ JPN versions & only 37 USA versions of NBBM PCB Jamma conversion kits were made/sold in their entirety.

system11: Thanks for the info. Makes perfect sense. I'll have another look at this. Although, I've gotta say noise from dust in pots has also been a common theme lately. Not sure that one's terribly likely on this unit but I'll see. I wonder if this method works? I've never used a contact cleaner (quick drying or otherwise) before, but it looks like interesting stuff.

yep, ditto. Check out the really odd tagline. Nobody seems to know what it means, but I hope it's related to bulk PCB salez.

A few more turned up.

Legend Of Hero Tonma - I bought a partially working board from a friend, and managed to fix a spare A board that I'd had in my parts pile for years - result :)

Image

Space Battleship Gomorrah - weird game, strangely this did come with the art, but someone stuck the art seal on the CPU along with the normal one.

Image

Image Fight - better condition than my old board so I'll be keeping this one, but I bought it because it came with original artwork.

Its just a serial number. There may be some kind of decoding with batch/lot/date/number, but I have no idea.
