PVM for $100, worth it?

Post by VACRMH »

I found someone selling a 19inch PVM along with some other stuff for $100. It's an hour or so drive to meet him, and I was wondering if it was worth picking up. I've never owned a monitor like this, so it would be the first time seeing RGB in person. I had a few questions on top of that...

1. Is it easy to TATE them? I'd hate to mess up the screen.

2. Anything I should look for in terms of condition? I think I heard something about a way to see how many hours it's been used?

3. If I decide it's not for me, think I can get back what I paid? Breaking even makes me more interested :)

Thanks!

This one?

It's a PVM-1910Q, so that's pretty old?! The cubic style PVMs are easiest for tate, but any PVM *could* work, as I've seen others post similar PVMs on their side. I would expect that the picture on this one might be on the soft side due to age and usage.

The model line might be old, but check out the mfr. date on this one. 2003! Into the last half-decade of production there.

Isn't power on hours contained in the service menu? Depending on the model you might get a switch but might also need a remote to enter the button combo. I'd look up the manual.

If what I see online is accurate, 1910 monitors have a whopping 900 lines of resolution. Isn't that the same one necronopticus has? Really really nice picture even using the original NES with composite video.

So yeah go check it out.
