It seems similar in a lot of ways.

I guess nobody thinks they're similar at all. Haha

Android Assault is really uneven. I think Gate of Thunder is a much better game.
Humans, think about what you have done

Hmm, usually people have an opinion even if they think my question is stupid.

I've only seen videos of Android Assault but I always thought that the graphics and ship design looked similar to Gate of Thunder. Interesting to see that I'm not the only one that thought so. Gate of Thunder is an amazing game, probably my favorite shmup on the PCE. I have a hard time imagining Android Assault matching it but I want to give it a try nonetheless.

Yeah, Gate of Thunder is about as good as it gets for a 16-bit shmup but Android Assault still looks pretty damn good. I just got a Sega CD and it's on my wish list.scrilla4rella wrote:I've only seen videos of Android Assault but I always thought that the graphics and ship design looked similar to Gate of Thunder. Android Assault definitely feels like it took ideas from Gate of Thunder, the Thunder Force games, and maybe a few others, with very few original ideas of its own... I don't know, it's good, but I don't like it nearly as much as Gate of Thunder or Lightening Force.
So yeah, I agree, the art design in Android Assault is VERY reminiscent of Gate of Thunder. Android Assault is an unoriginal game, they were clearly basing its design off of what was popular.

Bari Arm has a really unbalanced difficulty curve, I can tell you that much.
Still worth getting for Sega/Mega CD as it has one of the best stage complete flourishes of any shooter IMO, and awesome intro music as well.

The game's biggest problem is the MASSIVE leap in difficulty at the final boss... multiple directional attacks aimed at the player within a confined space. Pretty much every other boss in the game has discernible patterns and pattern orders... the last boss is just pure randomness.stryc9 wrote:Bari Arm has a really unbalanced difficulty curve, I can tell you that much.
