So I picked up a Sega CD at a flea market and just brought it home. It powers on but there's something weird with the CD spindle (the little thing in the middle that holds the disc in place. The disc doesn't snap onto it. It just sort of wobbles around like a piece of the spindle is missing or something. But why is it missing? It just seems odd. When I turn it on it tries to spin and read the disc but the disc just wobbles around like crazy (you can tell it's not secured down and spinning flat).
It looks exactly like the one in this listing. Zoom in on the spindle seen in the second picture (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-CD-System- ... 3f23930d1b)
Does that look odd to anybody?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to replace the spindle hub easily enough.

Nothing is missing. Here is a better look at the Sega CD model 2. If you are looking for the tiny little bearings that snap the disc into place you won't find them there. Older drives like this one, and the Turbo for instance, should have a magnetic centre in the top of the lid that holds the thing in place when the lid is closed. I don't know if your loading problem is related to this, or how loose your discs are when running on the spindle, but it doesn't use a snap mechanism as newer drives, laptops, Dreamcast etc. tend to use today.
Here is another picture, note the circular magnet underneath the lid.
