That must feel pretty great. I'm still working on WL, but it's getting closer. What was your score?
Re: I DID IT
Thanks! I booted up white label the other day and it seemed much harder. I felt like the bosses were more aggressive. At least the first boss was much harder to get the double hyper from the turrets.
My score was crap, around 50 mll. Believe it or not, I didn't even trigger the second extend until after I took out the last boss.
I went into that battle with 49 million. It should've been a lot less stressful. It feels really good to get the 1st loop clear though. Now I can focus on learning some chains.

Re: I DID IT
Crimzon Clover Original Mode! Admittedly, I ended up using Type Z to do it... (I've got to Stage 5 Boss with Type I).
The TLB was giving me problems, even with Type-Z, until I hit upon the strategy of repeatedly using bombs instead of going into Break Mode. That way you can keep clearing the screen of bullets and quickly charge up the Break Meter again to use another bomb.
I think that makes it my 7th 1CC of the year so far, along with Sonic Wings, Sonic Wings 3, Sonic Wings Special, Darius Gaiden, Darius Burst and Shogun: Rise of the Renegade. I guess that lot isn't too difficult, though.

Re: I DID IT
I just cleared the first loop of Batsugun Special.
First reaction upon starting the second loop: That is an absolutely preposterous amount of suicide bullets.
Second reaction: Holy shit, there are FOUR LOOPS? I don't even want to know how bad loop four is...
(Still got almost to Jupiter on the second loop)

That ship should only be used for unlimited mode. It's too overpowered.DocHauser wrote:Crimzon Clover Original Mode! Admittedly, I ended up using Type Z to do it... (I've got to Stage 5 Boss with Type I).

Re: I DID IT
From what I found, you just need to 1cc up to the 2nd TLB in any mode. A clear is not needed.Obscura wrote:I thought you had to clear original or unlimited to get type Z? Or is it just any clear?

Most of the loops aren't that hard, considering the absurd amount of bombs they give you, as well as the shields.oboewan42 wrote:I just cleared the first loop of Batsugun Special.

The suicide bullets are all aimed and "masked", so they're not really that hard to dodge.

Be more afraid of Loop 3. Those bullets can go to hell and are way harder than the Loop 4 ones.oboewan42 wrote:I just cleared the first loop of Batsugun Special.

I just got Satazius and normal mode 1cc'd it blind on my first attempt. Technically I had played the first two stages in the demo, and had seen very brief clips of the third on youtube, but otherwise it was all new to me.
Fun game.

I keeping with what seems like a theme in this thread - I got my first 1cc last night. DoDonPachi same as several others. My God it was close though, would definitely like to get it cleaner.

Alright, Bakraid Normal 1cc!
Not a hard clear, and my score was crap (5.4 mil), but it feels good given that a year ago, I was struggling with training course and got absolutely destroyed when I tried Normal.

Batrider Normal Course, WOOT!
No practice going into this, so it was kinda scary when the second final boss just came out of nowhere like O HAI THAR. Score was pretty meh, but overall I'm quite happy.

Finally I 1cc Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 Black Label! 1st 1cc!
Just did it! My palms are sweating, I feel like I'm gonna faint and at the same time I feel so much satisfaction!
I lost a life in the 3rd stage by a stupid mistake and I wanted to restart but I did not. I played against the score (read used the laser most of the time bc its more powerful and to avoid 9999 mode), so by the time I reached stage 5 I was far away from the 2nd score extend. But then by pure luck I managed to grab the 1up Item extend that is usually difficult to get at the top of the screen.
And shortly after that I got my score extend. F*ck, F*ck F*ck! No! Yes! Nonono!! Ouhhh! Don't die! Don't die now! Wowowwoowohh! This is what I literally shouted while dodging bullets. Yeah its stupid but I was at the edge of tension.
Sure for most of you STG veterans 1cc-ing mushi black label is no big deal as I read this game is considered as one of the easier ones, but for me it means everything! I am no STG virgin anymore yay!
I started getting into shmups recently again with Dodonpachi Resurrection and Deathsmiles. I very much liked this newly discovered universe of gameplay, so I bought Mushi 1.5, Espga II, Akai Katana and Guwange too. But till this day I never ever got near 1cc-ing the regular mode of one of these games. I thought it is impossible for me. Sure I 1cc the novice modes, but these do not count.
Yesterday I played the Black Label Score Mode all day long. When I died I restarted the mode. This is against Prometheus recommendation in "Full extend of the Jam". He says to train one level per time and not to restart all over. I only managed to get to the 4th boss. Strange thing is today I 1cc the game on my 3rd try.
Stages 2 and 3 I thought where incredibly difficult for me back then. But now I find them relatively easy. Sure it has to do with the brain learning the game on a subconscious level after so much repetition. I think bc of my brain getting adapted to stg I do better at my other cave shmups.
This was a wonderful experience. How to put this in words... The game grows with you. I is still the same game 1 year after my first play but at the same time it's not, it changes with you. For me this is a puzzle game. You have to figure out where to position your character, with what shoot type to kill what enemy, you have to learn how to herd bullets, know which enemies to kill in order to cancel all bullets on screen to save you life... Cave STGs have an incredible amount of gameplay depth. And now that I 1cc it a completely new journey has just begun: Play for score! As a core gamer I never felt that much emotion and excitement. No triple A Halo or COD can provide this experience. I'm preaching to the choir I guess...
Ok now what? What game do you guys recommend to try to 1cc next? What is the next least difficult cave game to 1cc? Daifukatsu? Akai Katana? One thing is for sure: Guwange I love the most of all cave games. Beautiful spooky feudal japan art style, but I will never be able to 1cc it.
Sorry for this somewhat long rambling and some of you may think "so you 1cc a game, good for you". Please delete this if it's against the forum rules. Blame it to dizziness caused by natural endorphins from the excitement of 1cc-ing
. I'm just so happy I finally did it. I legitimately 1cc the regular mode of a cave stg.
I survived bullet hell!

If you want easy cave games, try Death Smiles and Mushihime-sama next. After that, there's Espgaluda, but it's a tad more difficult because of the scoring system and that damnable last boss.
Re: I DID IT
Finally 1cc'd Darius Gaiden on a random credit :V 1-miss, ABDHLQV. Probably shit score. Fun stuff.

I might recommend trying for a 1-all of the original Dodonpachi, it's pretty fair and forgiving in the difficulty IMO.
