Oh, but the 360 version is actually 1.01. It's easier to do an 1cc in the 360 mainly because, in the arcade 1.00 version, you are left with no power ups when you die and you can only use the bomb when it's fully charged.

Also, I think you can decrease the rank on the 360 by losing medals and lives while in the arcade it never goes down and it grows quickier.

I'm not completely sure about the last paragraph though...

I also picked up Akai Katana recently, and I have to say, it is by far my least favorite CAVE game.

I hate the levels, I hate the bosses, I hate both of the scoring systems, I hate how irrationally hard Novice mode is.

It reminds me of Mars Matrix in a bad way (in the sense of "lol here's this huge-ass pattern, hope you didn't waste your bullet reflector five seconds ago trying to score"). Maybe I'm just not getting it; then again, I never really got Mars Matrix either.

And whoever came up with the idea of the lasers in this game should be killed by lasers.

Finally, I want to know whose bright idea it was, considering their rich untapped back catalog (ESPRaDe, Feveron, hell you could even go back as far as Toaplan), to say, "You know what game needs a spiritual successor right about now? Fucking Progear."

I do like the soundtrack though.

This game, to me, is proof that Deathsmiles was a fluke, and that hori bullet hell does not work. I believe there's a reason this game flopped, and that there's a reason this game is seldom mentioned on this here forum. A pity too, because I really wanted to like it, and it's probably the reason why we won't see any more localized CAVE stuff. It's just that the whole time I was bashing my head against the wall with this game, I was thinking, "fuck this, I want to play Futari".

Also managed to 1CC Crimzon Clover Simple for the first time on my first credit after two weeks of not playing it. Sightread the entire back half of stage 5. That game has entirely too many unfair bosses, but I love it. Taking bets on whether I'll 1CC Novice (edit: meant to say Original) before or after getting enough stars to unlock the TypeZ.

HellSinker Extra Stage 2 with fossilmaiden, trying to get over 5,000 spirits. Great stage but playing it for over an hour starts hurting the eyes lol. Very difficult to optimize the scoring here, looks like it's going to take a while (though I haven't actually no-missed the whole stage yet, but I doubt that'll give me over 500 more spirits)

Akai Katana Shin is one of my favorite cave games, didn't get into original or zetsu that much. I like the item management and special attacks in shin more than the reflecting bullets+pointblanking. I think I'll try and get a better score soon.

It's significantly easier than the standard game; bullets are noticeably slower, and rate you can earn energy for the meter is ridiculously fast to the point you can stay in ninja mode almost constantly. It's not a totally trivial clear because you have to put a bit of effort in learning how it works, but it's far from difficult.

It doesn't play at all like Progear. The scoring, the weapons, the pattern styles, everything is different. The only similarities are they're both Horis and they have planes.

Yeah, it's a shame but Akai Katana isn't very good. I like the stages, but hate the bosses so much that it actually prevents me from enjoying the game as a whole.

Had an urge to play Dux so I finally beat it last night.
I totally ignored the bugs or whatever the game has going wrong for it.

We shall see if the potential shown by the art design can actually be turned into a better product in Dux 1.5.

This tear stained post has inflated my hopes. Also just ordered an Akai Katana since it was cheap.

Been playing-
Gleylancer. Too long. "Hard" makes the levels more enjoyable but still plenty of slow going sections and bosses are Thunder Force III caliber pushovers.
Mars Matrix. Trying to record some level videos that I might share. A complete game with few terrible mistakes is not coming together.

Apparently I suck at Akuu Gallet and can't get a decent run going this week.

Tried to see if I could tackle Ketsui any better, gotten pretty decent at getting the st3 1up and making it to stage 4, got to the st4 boss for the first time, but geez those bombs are suckass by Cave standards, damage is pathetic and their coverage tends to be horrible.

It took me a few weeks to regularly get past stage 4. Keep at it, once stage 2 boss is a non-issue and the big meanies in stage 3 don't kill you you'll be in good shape.

I'm currently trying to see if I can get my Progear no 1cc. After that it's back to Ginga Force.

Finished my Triggerheart 1cc, and was going to move into Mushihime-sama as my next main game, but ended up going for a 1cc on Embodiment of Scarlet Devil at the behest of a friend. Doesn't seem too hard so might be able to get the 1cc with a few more weeks of practice. It's my first Touhou, and I'm loving the beautiful bullet patterns.

As for right NOW, I think I'm going to go play Metal Black just for the hell of it on my lunch break. That game is just so stylish...

After spending a couple of weeks beating my head into the brick wall that is DOJ BL, I'm going back to Mushihimesama Original.

So far, I'm amazingly inconsistent. One credit will make it past the stage 5 midboss, the next one will end in stage 2. WTF.

Stage 3 is still something of a bombfest. I also have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do about those dragons in stage 4.
