Planescape Torment Sequel - Tell Everyone You Know

Post by Blackbird »

It's official. Hell has frozen over and Planescape Torment, arguably one of the best RPGs of all time (and also one of the most underappreciated) is getting a sequel. I am so excited, I can hardly prevent myself from getting up and going to their studio in California to help out right now.

It's getting funded on Kickstarter. People relevant to the original story are onboard already, and more will join if they get enough funding.

In short, if you like the original game as much as I do and you want to see this game be the best it can, tell everyone you know about the campaign and contribute if you can. Cheers!

It's not a tumor, er, sequel.
PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Should have read the whole thing first, I got a little too excited at the news =P. In any case, they are making another game in the same spirit/narrative sensibilities as the original Torment, with many similar themes. This is actually a good thing. Given how the original game ended, it would be foolish to try to continue that plotline exactly where it left off.

That was a great deal, thanks for the heads up. I was going to buy Planescape soon anyway, and I've always been curious to try some of the others in the bundle.

As for this new Torment game, the concept looks good, and the fact that Pat Rothfuss is involved is brilliant. The only thing that annoys me is The Bloom: a sentient, organic city...just like the setting of a novel I'm planning to write as either my next project or the one after. No doubt the plot and execution will be different, but it's such a distinctive idea that anyone who reads it after Torment comes out will probably think I ripped the idea from there.

Oh well, there are no original ideas, as they say. It's likely they drew inspiration from the same place I did, namely the twisted paintings of HR Giger.

Also pretty excited about this.

Though I will certainly prefer myself some Post-Apocalytptic action in Wasteland 2, the sequel to the father of all choice and consequence RPG ever.

Kickstarter's over and the project is funded. In fact, they completely blew their target outta the water and hit a ton of stretch goals. I'm especially excited that they got Chris Avellone on the team.

I hope there is a Malkavian Mod-style playthrough option. Parasites and mutants in My Knife.

I had a good time with Planescape : Torment, not mentionning Fallout.
Will this game be released for Linux ?

Well well well, thanks to this topic and isometrical environment awesomeness, I just backed the game, a little late, so I had to pay $30 instead od $20.
But just look at this :

Heh from that trailer it looks like they kept some of that dark humour from the first Planescape
