Dandelion: Starchild Journey [Platine Dispotif oddity]

Post by Nana »

Let's talk about this unique gem! I recently got a copy from rancor, and it's a complete blast. If you don't know about it, it's a completely mouse-controlled game where the premise is drawing circles around bullets with your character/cursor while dodging bullets, then grabbing onto them and slingshotting them back at enemies. It's really bizarre, but a ton of fun and has great music. Has anyone else played it?

A couple of questions I had though, do different difficulty settings allow you to access more levels? When you no-miss each 'level' in a stage, does the stage boss get harder? Is this necessary for unlocking a TLB of sorts? Are there any practical applications for the black hole? And if somebody understands Japanese, how do you play the boardgame that's on the packaging of the case, "Heloscope Voyager"?

Interesting. I like Platine Dispotif. The concept sounds nice, but mouse controls? That's a turn off. Are there options for controlling your character other ways?

Man I wish. I hate mouse controls too, but that's the only option provided to play the game. If you wanna check it out first though, there's a demo of the first stage up at rancor's site: http://www.sk8tokyo.com/shmup/games/starchild.htm

I was skeptical at first, but after playing through the demo on every difficulty over and over, I decided I had to get the full thing.

It would probably work on a tablet though. I'll probably take it over to a friend's house eventually to try it on one.

Yeah, I'll have to check out the demo and maybe look up some gameplay on youtube. Seems interesting.

Actually, the back of the box reads that playing using a graphics tablet is the recommended method. A mouse or trackball are your other options. Come to think of it, this is the type of game that might work well on a touch screen, but it probably doesn't have support for one.
