Did a quick sketch for the boss/ player then got carried away. There needs to be an easier program for making games available! Dezaemon PC please.

You know what, I think a "sketchy" graphic style would be cool to see in a shmup, offhand I can't recall any thus far which have looked like that. Nice drawing, got any more, perhaps on a different shmuppish "theme?"

Yeah, that'd be like Rakugaki Showtime, but a shmup, right? :D

Plenty more drawings, but no other shooter related things. My website is linked below.

And thanks for the compliments! I've put the ship and boss sprites into Game Maker- so far I can shoot, damage and kill the boss and crash into it. Making the boss shoot cool patterns is going to be a pain though, I can tell.

There was something called ShooterMaker, a Japanese program that worked under the same principles as Dezaemon - background and scenery tiles, sprites, simple code - but the games were pretty primitive by todays make-it-yourself programs. Done by the same group that released RPGMaker a long time ago.

There was also that program that Alluro used to make his homebrew shmup, I forgot the name of the program though -_- The output looked pretty good though.

Oh, and good stuff on the sketchy shmup idea ^_^ I'd love to see a good shmup that did graphics in a sketchy style like Rakugaki Showtime, or a crayon-like style similar to Yoshi's Island.

Alluro made his shmup in macromedia fusion, if I am not mistaken.

And Shooter Maker is actually VERY powerful, I've seen some fantastic games made with it. But it never got a proper english translation as far as I know, which makes it really hard to use.

Shooter Maker 95

Post by tikkaman »

Hi,

Check out my yahoo group:

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ShooterMaker95/

There is a downloadable translated (ish) version of the maker, plus several demo games, and some notes I've made when using it.

It really is very powerfull, I just wish they'd release a completly translated version.

Your style is distinctive and interesting-- I would love to play a shmup with graphics like these.

Looks fantastic, although a nice hold-down-button laser would be even better
