Raiden DX old vs. new version

Post by raiden »

I remember reading something like [pic of the old version] "avoid like the plague" - [pic of the new version] "spend a whole month´s pay" in the old forum. The question is why? I know the old version has a large layout (similar to Psikyo boards in size), while the new version is super small (similar to Ketsui), which is a fine enough reason to prefer the new version, but it doesn´t tell me why the old version is as bad as to avoid it. The reason I ask is of course, that the old version is easier to find, sometimes cheaper, or availlable as full kit. So what´s so bad about it, apart from size?

I was under the impression that the new version was a budget release, like the 2000 version SPI games. I'd much rather have the PCB of the original version.

ehm, besides pcbs aesthetics, is the game they run exactly the same, right?

I had the new version- the music is really horrible! Muffled and loopy, all the sounds seemed a little muffled. And the video seemed kind of crappy- sort of high contrast. I actually havn't tried the old version, but I'm sure that's the difference. My raiden 2 sounds and looks crisp and clean.

I mean, really muffled sound. You'd hate it unless you turned the sound off.
