I just threw £50 into the travel pot for our Japanese friends.

And as it turns out, I didn't actually book the end of May for my study break, but rather the end of April - including the three days around Wasshoi - so I might actually be able to go. I'm going to confirm those dates tomorrow when I'm at work, just in case, as the back-office system for holidays was down today, and if it's correct, I'll be looking to book through Eurostar. The final thing is to sort out accommodation.

If only this was announced a little earlier, I would have booked the two weeks off in mid May for study to coincide with these dates instead. -_-;;
While difficult, I'm going to try and get down for this, but the key issues will be 1) getting the time off work, and 2) finding a place to stay. Any Rennes residents willing to let a Geordie crash on the sofa for a bit? Will pay in beers and pizza. :p
Same for me, why the late announcement? :(

Meeting T3-Kamui would be super awesome, I'll try to make it.
Yeah I was very aware of the necessity to announce as soon as possible, in fact I could have pushed the announcement about 1 week earlier but no more (and I was pretty overbooked so I waited 1 week), because I needed to wait to be sure that the project was definitely confirmed (when the plane tickets were bought), and this took time for many reasons. I urged the unfolding of the finances as much as I could and frankly we did a good job but there was some slowness involved and I couldn't announce earlier in the end. Sorry about that and I know this means more expansive trip for some people and they may not come. I really want you to come though, so if it's not too hard on your money or time, please do ! I don't think you would possibly regret it, Stunfest really is the best video game event I ever attended, and it's always good. This year it's going to be even better :)

Please come Plasmo!!

That's awesome Icarus :) Really want to see you there! Accommodation : hostel is cheap and totally fine, I used it twice I think. It looks like it's far away on the map but it's not, it's a 20min walk from downtown which is easily accessed back from Stunfest by bus. Couchsurfing works great and is free. Finding a Rennes-residing person from Stunfest might be harder due to the amount of people coming from everywhere in France to Stunfest, most would probably already be hosting someone but who knows.

Thank you so much for the donation!

And by the way we're gonna have 6 free play Astro/New Astro cabs full with shmups during the whole 3 days. We're currently preparing the program (which games when). I will post that program when it's done !

I don't know how the usual players in France are, but I would recommend turning off continues on games that you can. Credit feeders....

Yeah I think we usually do that, or sometimes we just tell people it's 1 credit. If you talk to them they understand. It always works really well tbh.

Hi Prometheus, first of all congratulations for pulling this off and for your organization as well. This was something we could just barely dream about some years ago (and honestly I thought it would happen in the US but now it looks like the beat'em up scene cannot give these guys a spot to shine)

I am very sad whenever I must confront the fact that now that I got a permanent job with the immediate advantage of getting a guaranteed amount of money every month in exchange for that I have a very rigid schedule that forces me to arrange my days off work at least TWO months in advance plus I've got a studio booked for the end of april for tracking with my band with no possibility to postpone. So unfortunately I will not be attending but I'm going to donate something. It would have been great to chat with Kamui again since 2008 and meet with all the guys who will be there.

Please make sure everything gets recorded properly and made availlable to the public!!

This is very cool news, I don't know much about superplayers since I don't speak Japanese and can't really find info of superplayers but I'm glad there is movement in the STG community outside of Japan. Here is the U.S, I could never imagine top players getting together for something like this but would like to see it happen. The only thing coming here is ZUN to Atlanta,GA apparently on my birthday...but I'm not as big a touhou fan as I am CAVE fan.

It's going to be 7 free play cabs after all !

(there are a lot of others cabs and machines in free play within Stunfest, not shmup)

Mr PROMETHEUS - Will there be any Jap X360s hooked up? I could bring along my Pork disc and stick if so...?

At the moment, it looks like Plasmo and I will travel together in my car. (Just like the Hamburg Meet).

Mr DEL - At the moment I do not have this information, although in precedent years there were indeed one or two X360s with shmups on them. One was running Futari, so I believe they may not have been Jap X360s. I am not aware of who it is that took care of the X360s last year. This year, nobody in my team has talked about bringing Jap X360s and I do not particularly expect to see any at Stunfest, as we are focusing on arcade cabs and a demo stage instead and they are not supposed to be anywhere close to where other people may set up X360s for something other than shmups. We should be able to find a Pork PCB though and see if people want that to be available on one of the 7 cabs at some point, which shouldn't be a problem as long as we don't forget to make sure someone is bringing the PCB.

I am very pleased and honored that you and Plasmo are travelling together to come to Stunfest :)

Cheers Mister PROMETHEUS,
I wouldn't worry about the Pork board, it pales into insignificance next to the 2 loop Ver1.01, but I'll bring my Pork disc and stick just in case there's an outside chance of a Jap X360 flying around the Fest.
The main thing will of course be to see the Japanese Superplayers, you, Icarus and hopefully the Italian guys.

See you there

Endokarb : gogogo to Rennes! Tell JCK, BR1, LUN, POW and everyone else to come as well ;D!!
I assume these are names of Italian shmuppers. Sadly I don't actually know anyone from the Italian shmup scene. I should check into it.

Anyway, I just chipped in my small contribution for the superplayers' travel expense.
At this point I'm almost 100% sure me and my remarkably low skill level will be in Rennes this April.
The excitement level is through the roof though. :D

BTW, any idea about when there'll be any definitive information about which shmup will be playable?
(so maybe I can pick one a practice a bit and not suck too bad...)

Keep up the great work!

I also want to say that though it is pretty much impossible for me to predict, about 20 shmuppers from the French forums have said they will be in Stunfest. There may be more, as some don't manifest themselves on forums. There may be less, who knows. In any case, I think we should have a pretty good group, and of course they're all awesome so I expect that this could very well be a cool shmupmeet if you know what I mean ;)

Because for the first time, we will have not only a good nice group of Frenchies, but also people from a bunch of other countries around France, and 3 superplayers from Japan, hanging around 7 free play cabs :)

Hello endoKarb, thanks for your donation. I am very happy that you are coming from Italy. Welcome to Stunfest!

We are currently programming which shmups will be playable when on the 7 free play cabs. I cannot tell a definitive answer at this point, but I will transmit the information as soon as possible (probably within 1 or 2 weeks). Sorry that we can't do it any faster. I am pretty sure that Garegga, Futari black label and DDP SDOJ will be playable often, other games that will may include but are not limited to DDP DOJ, Ketsui, DeathSmiles, Progear, Gunbird 2, Dragon Blaze, Cyvern, Blazing Star/Pulstar, Espgaluda/Espgaluda2... Everything is possible, those are just some of the names that came up in the first plans. This will be subject to change many times before Stunfest and we will take into account suggestions before Stunfest and also requests during Stunfest, if the requested PCBs are available to us there and we find that it is worth putting that game in at that particular time.

Oh btw if you want to see some mad Donpachi skills, be sure to hook up a cab with the PCB.

...actually don't do this. Everyone hates Donpachi. Let's have some games we all can enjoy! :)

It would be fun for a few hours though. I could bring the PCB with me if neccessary.

What happened to the italian shmup scene anyway? They were quite big once, haven't heard of any of them for years.

Don't expect me to demo anything, I haven't played anything since last April. I'll be coming along to meet old friends and new peeps.
Looking forward to an advanced taster of Saidaioujou though, as I intend to spend the summer break between academic years with it.

Most of them are still around, though by the look of things, they're more engrossed in fighting games.

Yup, as Icarus says, they became engrossed in fighting games. In fact not long after that BIG London Meet, & they've been Hyper Vipering it ever since.
There should be a good chance of them turning up, considering the overall slant of Stunfest.

Yeah you can definitely bring it if that's not too bothersome for you, right now I cannot guarantee that we'll put it in but there's a good chance we would be able to : we planned on doing a round of PCB-swapping each day around 3 or 4pm depending on requests and what's going on. We're not gonna change all 7 cabs but between 1 and 3 or 4. I'm pretty sure some people will be interested in watching some DP action, and I expect that this game should be attractive enough to the public as well. But, we're trying not to have Cave-only line-ups and it's hard to pick among everything that people want to play or are attractive enough to the public.
I'm trying to let Futari BL, Garegga and SDOJ stay longer than all the others, since they're the star-games this year at Stunfest, still in discussion though.

Sure you know, I hadn't thought of that one but I'm gonna pitch it in.

But let me work out the tentative program with my colleague A-M and then we'll publish that and be open for suggestions for modifications !

For you guys who are coming to Stunfest,
if you get your tickets before April 1st, you save a few €.
Right now 3days pass is 13€, will be 18€ later.
You can buy your pass at http://shop.3hitcombo.fr/
"Pass 3 Jours Stunfest 2013"
You can pay via paypal, check or bank transfer.

Just thought I'd let you know cause even though I don't like advertisement much I know you probably can't read French!

Also I recommend getting tickets before you get to Stunfest because last year we ran into a situation where attendance was higher than ever hoped so on Saturday staff had to turn people down for safety reasons.
All staying confortable enough and fun inside though!

Same here ratikal. Flights from Ireland are very expensive right now. Such a shame, I'd love to go to this.

If anyone is going, I would love to send on my Progear VHS and booklet for Clover TAC to sign if this is possible? If anyone can help please drop me a PM, I'd be very grateful! :D
