I need this shit. The US release is a day after my birthday. I'll make it a present to myself.

Definitely looking forward to it, no wonder GH being one of my all-time fav games. The screens I've seen so far look very impressive, and the offical art is nice well, tho not as good as teh original, it has a different feeling IMHO.
There's something that worries me, tho. Anyone knows if there's an european release planned? =X

Wow, I'm very surprised that no one here has posted impressions from the real game. I just played it for about half an hour and I am completely impressed and blown away!!!!!!!! Treasure always comes up with such simple things that no one ever thinks about and they almost always complement their games. The R shoulder button for fixed shooting? Genius! Press fire button while holding down R to fix aim and run around and shoot? Cool! The Gameboy Player is one of the best things to come out this generation...along with this game. XBox 360? Bah, give me more GSH/Astro Boy caliber games on the GBA and I wouldn't even bother.

WTF??? I was hyped up for this, then it sort of disappeared off my radar, and now it's out in Japan?? Heh, not that it's a bad thing... I'll be ready to pre-order the US version any time!

edit: I just flashed it to one of my cartridges (yes, evil me....) and for any of you doubters of GBA, Sega and Treasure have made something truly amazing and you will NOT be disappointed! Next time I swing by EB (unfortunately it will probably be EB since other places aren't likely to carry this title at all) I'll definitely try to pre-order it.

I wanted to give it a test run to see if the game is up to snuff, and after an illuminating 30 minutes with it, I'll have to say "Hell Yeah!" I do realize that it isn't as fun to play it on an emu, so I'll pick up the game once it hits stores. Besides, my computer is so sh*tty that it won't run a GBA emu properly.

Sold out? EXCELLENT!!!!! Hopefully, this is a sign of Japanese gamers finally giving Treasure the appreciation they deserve. I've read in some magazine that Treasure is more appreciated in America compared to Japan. If that is the case and continues, can you imagine Treasure caving in and making garbage like FPSs and GTA clones? That would be a waste of remarkable talent...

Sold out != selling a lot.

It could mean game stores ain't stocking well on it. The same happened to Castlevania DS. There was one copy left when I got to my store, and it was the display one. My take on it is that they got two copies or so since I got there early.

Screw it. I caved in and just placed an order for the Japanese version from yesasia. Only had to transfer a bit under $54 CAD from my bank account for the Paypal.
If the US version retails for $49.99 CAD, then the import will be cheaper after taxes, and if it retails for $39.99 then the import only costs me a few bucks more.
So now I can play the ROM guilt-free!

What? Here we go again with "FPS and GTA clones". Treasure doesn't even have a big enough team to handle games like that. Treasure isn't owned by anyone and Masato Maegawa makes it that way, so Treasure can continue to make the games THEY like to make. They know their games cater to hardcore fans, they don't have a problem with this.

The quote from the interview is that Treasure has more fans abroad than in Japan.

Yes, in all likelyhood that's the reason they were sold out.

A clerk in one shop even was: "Gunstar Super Heroes... hmmm??? Oh yeaaaah... that one. That one's already gone. *shrug*"

I hope I can still find it, otherwise I'll have to order it online. I NEED this game, dammit! If you haven't already guessed from my nick, the Megadrive Gunstars, as well as Alien Soldier, are my favorite Treasure games. :D

Why not? A lot of people, myself included, buy themselves a birthday gift. And it's good to finally see some more Japanese-developed shooting action for the GBA, instead of another blasted cell-phone port.

Hah! Cell-phone ports are the worst. Did you ever play the Metal Slug cell-phone game?

Wow.

I just got my second free issue of Nintendo Power, and there was a little 2-page article on this game.

There was also a neat article about 2-D games, which actually acknowledged the existence of the Playstation and Saturn. That's quite a change from how I remembered NP from years ago...

Hardcore Gamer Magazine also has a Treasure interview and a feature on the history of Treasure.

Be sure to check out that transforming robot coffee table the Katamari Damacy guy made.

Buyer Beware-They tried to charge me $20 for the magazine at gamestop.

So has nobody else got this yet? I've not put a lot of time in it, but it is quite enjoyable.

I haven't, and I still don't expect mine for a while. I only put in my order last Friday or Saturday at yesasia, opted for free shipping, so even if has been shipped, it might not get here until the US version is out, heh.

I put it on a flash cart, but Castlevania's been hogging my DS time lately anyway..

I'm waiting for the US release. If I got it now, the experience woulda been partially spoiled by the lack of English.

BTW, I saw a GSH trailer on Cinematech the other day...wow, this game is just gorgeous. I really do believe it could upset its predecessor, and it definitely looks like GOTY material.

I don't know, but GBAs aren't region locked anyway, so you could just pick up the US version and use that if it doesn't make it to Europe.

I think I read somewhere (Edge magazine?) that it was getting a late November release in Europe.

Yeah, but now it's called Gunstar Future Heroes for some reason.

play.com and Game have got it down for a 04-Nov-2005 release.

And play.coms price is nice and cheap too.

The name changes you guys get over there always amuse me: Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles; Probotector (Contra); Shadow Warriors (Ninja Gaiden), Freak Out (Stretch Panic). I remember reading that years ago, a lot of games and titles were altered for the European market if they implied any sort of violence, but I would assume things have changed recently.

As for the title of Gunstar Super Heroes getting a change, that's just odd.

I believe the game's story takes place far in the future from the original, so that might mean the PAL title actually makes some sense this time.

Interestingly enough, from the game play videos, they seem to reuse some of the level themes and enemies. I assumed it was just a high-powered remake of the original.

Who gives a shit about the plot anyway though.
