I wonder if that Roger guy that they mentioned on their webpage right before it was shut down (they mentioned something about that he was the reason for the demise of the company if I remember correctly), had anything to do with the Bio Energy company as well...
It seems my strong dislike of Milestone's works was not unfounded. If you bought any of their games new while they were still in business, you supported the exploitation of a developing country through shady, unregulated business deals, not to mention an inherently risky alternative energy source and what would have been considerable damage to the local environment.

How depressing. This guy wasn't some generic businessman president either. Kimura founded MileStone along with his colleagues because they were all shooter fans and he specifically had some original projects he wanted to do.
Of course, that's just an opinion. Always seeking netplay fans to play emulated arcade games with.
This has got investment fraud written all over it - a green aspect to the project to make investors feel good about it, a long term investment, so once people have handed over their money they won't come bothering you every five minutes, breach of legislation regarding financial instruments, an overseas operation making it hard to look into, and an arrest as well - you don't arrest someone for filling in a form wrong...
Man I never a fan of Milestone games but he does not deserve that treatment... It was hilarious though if he had to go to prison because his games was so bad.
Damn speaking of which, this so weird. Who'd ever thought that milestone was going to be shutted down like this. I wish he were accused of being a yakuza member, that would have been a much honorable fate.
So Kimura is arrested because of his actions with the other company MS Bio - but Milestone the software company didn't have anything to do with the actions of MS Bio, right? So therefore Milestone wasn't shut down because of the shading dealings and theoretically Milestone could just promote/hire a new president. - Obviously that wasn't feasible for whatever reason since they are announcing the company is out of business, perhaps because of the small tightly knit nature of the company, but the shady dealings can't have been the only thing resulting in Milestone software co going out of business. Probably capital/cash flow issues, although I enjoyed them for what they were, I didn't get the idea any of their games were big sellers.
While extremely bizarre, this is still sad news to me. Milestone will probably never be back. I hope their staff find opportunities elsewhere to make shmups again.
What a shocker and a bummer. It's even stranger than the 38 Studios/Big Huge Games situation from 2012.
So sorry for the developers- and I'm hoping they do find work soon or even start a new company.
