Dangun Feveron graphical problems

Post by judesalmon »

My Dangun Feveron board exhibits a graphical problem, whereby all the near background data is jumbled and messed-up. Everything else is fine and the game works perfectly.

I have tried the board with two different cabs and the problem persists. Is this repairable? The board looks perfect.

As I want to sell the board, should I get it fixed first or sell it as is?

It'd be recommended to the get the ol' DF PCB fixed before selling it as not to trouble the potential interested buyer. Will certainly increase the resale value given it's an original DF and not that of the International Fever SOS version.

Have you tried gently flexing the DF boared when it's booted up on either of your cabs to see if the background sprite issue goes away? That little trick sometimes works with such PCBs with such graphical sprite corruption or it could be something more serious down the road.

Take for example: I had a Taito USA region Jamma Alcon PCB that the seller said was 100% working. Upon recieving it, it had graphical corruption when booted up from a cold start. It was determined that one of the wired looms that interfaces between the two boards became loose during shipping. A simple reinsertation of the loom and securely locking-in the loom interface tabs in place and viola! It was back to 100% working operation. Easy as pie.

I don't know what a working one is worth, but non working should be *significantly* less if it's not an intermittent problem. Might be best paying for it to be repaired. The one simple test you can do, is run a fingernail along the surface mount chip pins, pushing them downwards very slightly where they meet the PCB. You can also use a similar plastic object with no sharp edges or ones likely to catch. Even the slightest pressure will tell you if it's just a solder join which has cracked at the leg.
