5pb published? That means DOJ BLEX could also possibly get a release, depending on how hard up they are for cash (and the weirdness of this suggests that they are.)

I just reposted what elixir poster on the shmups twitter.

But as I said in the other thread, why now? You would have thought they would have done this years ago by releasing a game on both platforms and then seeing which one sold the best.

2013 is lining up for quite the year of unexpected surprises isn't it?

Assuming it's on-disc and not following Atlus USA's trend this may be a good way to get PS3 owners into shmups.

I'd be surprised if it manages to sell even half of what Ketsui sold on 360. But if 5pb can make even $1 in profit from it, Bullet Soul is probably next in line.

I remember reading/hearing years ago that Ketsui was to be a PS3 launch title until Sony and CAVE had a falling out.
Something about Sony only wanting HD 16:9 games to "show off" their new hardware or something?
I can not remember the source...
Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Yes. It's either that or Sony has relaxed their politics after some higher ups got fired or quit. There are plenty of 2D games on PS3 that also use 4:3 with borders or some variants.

Can 5pb really do this without Cave having a say in it? Maybe there's a new deal.

Interesting move though, having to choose between this and DOJ.
DOJ might have been a better choice if they could manage to release it before Cave puts out SDOJ but maybe they couldn't pull it off and knew how weaksauce it would be to rerelease an earlier game in a series when everyone is still busy playing the latest in the series.

SCEA is way more strict than SCE. That said, we don't really know any details yet about how 5pb is going to handle this port. They may be giving it a similar treatment to what G.rev did with Under Defeat HD in order to get around the rules. But it's also possible that Sony may be relaxing some of their policies now that the current console generation will soon be coming to an end.

The 360 Ketsui port is one of the best Cave ports on the platform. I'm not worried about that unless we hear 5pb has changed development houses -again-.
