the art in that looks brilliant - heavy ink look - there is a sub of it I see.

I just finished Yamato III TV, and I proper liked it, even through the horrible filter of Starblazers dub...

Just saying how glad I am to have found a community where people appreciate the classics.

Most places seem to think "anime" consists only of Bleach, Naruto, and something called Madoka Magica (which I haven't watched yet and just am not interested in).

Although I feel I might be ostracized if I say I love Cardcaptor Sakura...

Prettttty sure the Download OVA is based on the awesome PC-Engine shmup series. Pretty much same story in a cyber punk universe, but I can't find any concrete evidence in English. Same thing with the anime based on Pentaro from Parodius. There is almost zero knowledge that it even exists in English, meaning it will probably never get translated--unless some hardcore Konami fan gets a hold of it and does the dirty job.

I can vouch for California Crisis being awesome. Really unique "thick" art style from a short lived studio. If you like American 80s adventure/action movies then this is ace material. Jumps into the action almost immediately and never lets up. Kind of ends abruptly with little closure, but it sort of leaves the viewer with an open-ended experience. Great stuff. Interesting to see a Japanese's portrayal of American life, much like how Mad Bull 34 has canned coffee machines all about New York.

Incidentally, would you guys happen to know a (legal) way I could get my hands on Super Dimension Century Orguss? It appears to not be listed on Amazon even though there was a legit R1 release...

Well, Orguss never got an official DVD release in the states. It was planned, but sadly got canceled. The only thing you can really find is the OVA. Pretty much just have to download at this point.

I wish the internet had a Random Animu button. My "play anything that shows up" roulette was entertaining, if not productive.

But like endless 80's family sitcoms, I'm sure overuse could make a man insane and intolerant of the things for life.

This is the thread devoted to talking about weaboo children's cartoons. We're like Planet Fitness up in here: judgement free zone.

(By that I mean we have a siren that detects whenever you make a whimper while trying to improve yourself and screams at you so everyone knows to judge you.)

Currently reading Shirugui.

It's royally fucking violent, basically guro levels, but brilliantly written.

Madoka Magica is a truly great show. It changed my opinion of modern anime, it's that good.

Just give it until episode 3, no matter what you think of 1 & 2.

it is indeed - from Final Yamato, in which no frame nor perspective is lazy, lavish art everywhere...

Don't bother with Legacy. It is absolute trash. Stick to the original 90s OAV. I recently had it imported from the UK 8)

There are no children on the planet Weab. Everything is for adults.

watched Yamato Revival - more brilliance, though a different feel. I like how it went all Gurren Lagann towards the end. I wasn't to into the actual texturing of the CG/polygons and would have preferred outlines etc. and cel shading instead of diffuse look, BUT just like in Igloo, they really took advantage of the CG and the battle choreography was incredible.

All this talk of Yamato... is there a fansub of the original TV series, or is Star Blazers the only way to see it in English?
