I've been making video games since 1994. While I love making games, the state of the industry and the mentality of people working on it -these days- has made me really hate this job.

I wish I could make comics for living.

I actually like my teachers; however, the students are vile.

I dont know outside France, but here, teachers are often seen as people who get paid for not working. Thus the time to play STG !

That same stereotype exists here in America

As for myself, I'm a Software Developer/Reverse Engineer for a non-profit R&D company. It's pretty fuckin' cool :)

Where I'm from teachers are revered, adults stand up when a teacher enters a room. We have the most important profession because we mold the future. Or something. It's cool. But we make shit pay.

I also became a pole vault coach today. I don't know why so many teachers play stgs, but I like it.

Which heaven country is that ? Do you need math teacher ?
Here we are despised, and get the shit pay too compared to all those studies needed.

As far as I'm concerned, STG are just like maths in the sense that rules are clear :
- you do it the right way, you live
- you do it the wrong way, you die
Students dont follow the rules, so let's play STG after work to forget that.

Whoa, math has become serious business, huh? Back in my day if we did it wrong, we just flunked and had to take the class again.

I cobble together a living ruining America's youth through various adjunct professor positions, as well as performing gigs. I'm also attempting to finish a Ph.D. in Musicology, which will render me completely unemployable.

This will indeed. Living for your passion does not earn money, except if your passion is ... maths !

Was a mechanical draftsman before the manufacturing bubble burst here in the Midwest. Now I'm just another guy having the post-high school 'aaaagh what do I do with my life' freakout in my late twenties.

Studying mathematics at the moment, first year. No idea what I want to do for a career. I wouldn't mind teaching, but I really hated secondary school and don't want to distress my past self. The worst part is I get the feeling a lot of opportunities are passing me by. On the one hand, I don't want to drive myself into an ultra competitive field which I have no passion for because then however much effort I put in I will still be unfulfilled, but then again I don't fancy flooring much either. I guess when exams are over I'll have to take stock and decide what objectives to pursue...

Haha, yes this!

"Press Specialist" for publishing company here. Picture editing mainly, plus some graphics work - means I get to play around with a Man Roland printing press most nights! 96 pages full colour baby, the only one on this island!

(Posting this from work right now actually ;-) )

Hella lot of teachers in here! Interesting reading through this thread. I must admit, I do enjoy this job immensely (conditions/£££ etc.), but I feel for those that don't. I been trapped in some SHITTY situations over the years. I fully empathise. The only thing that changed situations for me, was simply quitting everything I had going on, and starting from scratch. Burn your bridges, and work (or preferably lie/cheat ;-) ) towards what you want.

Ciao hombres.
