is Revolutionary Girl Utena good? or is it all sickeny sweet cute shit?

I am considering it because of the supposed Versailles No Bara influence on it...

It has a great look, and from what I hear it's heavy on the ol' Lesbians stuff.

Never watched it though.

That shit traumatized me when I was little... so much lesbianity it hurt. I'm sure that if I were born a girl I would have had a crisis, Utena was cool as fuck sometimes

Gosh, finished reading the omake chapter of Molester Man. So good so good. Check out Onani Master Kurosawa as well. Am waiting the YOKO's aka Yokota Takuma's next work with bated breath.

I really liked Utena. I still have the Software Sculptors DVDs! It's way better than Strawberry Panic, that's for sure (although I also liked that series) 8)

Addendum: Have you seen Blue Gender yet? You gotta queue this series sometime soon. It generally gets good reviews in spite of its bleak story and violent graphics. I've been totally h00ked on that ending theme song... even the English version of the song sounds excellent. Check it out:

I enjoyed Blue Gender all the way until they reached the Space Station Second Earth, then the direction change and the Yuji and Marlene role reversal left me feeling a little apathetic. Also I missed the sense of urgency present in merely surviving the Blue’s relentless assaults seen in the first half.
I was rather turned off by how liberal everyone was with Sex too, with everyone fucking everyone even in front of commanding officers
Final few episodes picked up significantly though and truly liked the ending.

I am of the same opinion. I really liked the relentless pursuit and pseudo-Starship Troopers action, where everyone dies really violent deaths... and, yes, the characters' view of sex throughout the series was very strange. I mean, you know we're used to the occasional romance and it should be expected when you have male and female leads. But the way it was shown in this series made sex as just one more thing to deal with in this cold, fucked up, post-apocalyptic world. When Marlene reminisces about her youth and her "training," it gave me chills thinking of what a sad existence she had led up to that point. The ending theme song really looked and sounded different to me after that.

I see that Blue Gender Anime is more or less a Starships troopers rip-off, but it is also created by the same guys behind the Armored Trooper Votoms series.

By the way is Armored Trooper Votoms Anime mech series related in any way to the Assault Suits mech game series?
Their art seems to be very similar, is it done by the same artist?

Kunio Okawara is the famous Mechanical designer behind the VOTOMS series, as well as other notable robot shows like Gundam, Space Runaway Ideon and various Tatsunoko productions.
I have not heard of anything that possibly connects him or his art company to the Assault Suit titles, most likely someone was just “inspired” by his real robot designs of the time.

Assault Suit and Cybernator games are ace btw :D

I showed a jaded fan(of modern stuff) Madoka MAgica, and as expected, he loved it. It's truly a great show.

I'm watching Fate/Extra, but yeesh Urobachi, lay off the cliffhangers.

Watching Turn A Gundam. Tomino banzai!

Talking about Urobuchi, Everybody is so hyped about Suisei no Gargantia, I'm just hoping for a zen koroshi mecha series without too many lolis.

Torture porn is considered new to some people? That's pretty interesting.

Latest episode of JoJo's was pretty fucking awesome, as expected. Chariot battle replaces Dio and Jonathan's burning free fall brawl as my (current) favorite fight.
And now that Shingeki no Kyojin anime has a set date, the wait somehow feels even longer. aaaaa

Utena is one of those things where girls are not allowed to look prettier than the boys. Make of it what you will.

At least it's psychological torture, mostly.

Yes you're probably right, after all, the Assault Suits series were released almost a decade after the Armored Trooper Votoms series, so they were probably just inspired by his art and copied it. They do look very similar.

Watching Akazukin ChaCha. If nostalgiafags had pointed me to this show sooner I'd easily be able to see why old school anime is generally considered superior.

Ahhahah
That scene looks hilarious!

The art and humor of that anime looks very similar to Sailor Moon (Maybe created by the same artists / animators?).

Specifically which episode is that scene from, as I don't have time to see the entire series.

You just gotta love the homo-erotic sadomasochistic innuendos of Sailor Moon!

Genmu Senki Leda - Fantastic Adventure of Yohko Leda
Is a pretty nice Anime OAV with evident similarities to Valis.
Art & animation is done by Mutsumi Inomata, the creator of:
Plawres Sanshirō
Windaria

It was also dubbed in Greek back in the day, but I don't even remember the Greek title to search for it! :(

I guess I should be grateful for that Sailor Moon reboot that's coming this summer since I was too dumb to keep up with air times as a kid and missed pretty much everything.

The show's held up amazingly well. Sailor Moon S(3) and Stars(5) in particular are incredible. S and Stars are practically satire.

That's good to hear. I certainly won't forget the last time an ancient manga series broadcasted on modern TV and surprised me with its quality.
