General RBG/SCART question
General RBG/SCART question
Sometime in the next few months, I'm planning on buying a PC Engine Duo RX modded for both s-video and RGB. For now I'll mostly be using it on my TV, but once I get my game room situation sorted out, I have an old Commodore brand RGB monitor (which I normally use with my JAMMA supergun) I'd like to use. The thing I'm wondering is, the dealer emphasizes SCART when talking about RGB in his sale description and there's a bit of a language barrier when answering my questions. I'm in the U.S. so no SCART TV. So, the question I have is, do SCART cables at least have the same output/female end as a "normal" RGB cable/output which would enable me to use my RGB monitor/standard RGB cable connection when I'm ready?
Re: General RBG/SCART question
You may need to find out if he has used c-video (composite video) or c-sync in the rgb SCART cable. I doubt the Commodore will take both, and will probably won't like c-video. Worst case scenario you will need something like the Sync-Strike product (or make your own).
And if all he offers is a SCART connector you will at least need an adapter to your commodore.

Re: General RBG/SCART question
Thanks. So, to clarify, as long as he uses c-sync (and not composite) then I should be able connect it to my RGB monitor with a standard RGB cable?
edit: Never mind, I can see now how SCART is different than a standard RGB cable and I'll need that adaptor.

Re: General RBG/SCART question
my 1084 took both. no problems connecting megadrive, ps2 and some other consoles. You can build the needed cable easily if you got some basic experience in soldering. take a look at gamesx.com - the got lots of tutorials.
