So with EOIV's announcement for the US, I think the Megaten community is finally waking up and realizing that, no, Eternal Punishment PSP is probably NOT coming out here, unless people take action.

I'm open to suggestions.

I plan on taking on at least 80% of the extra bosses so I need to do some serious prep. Thankfully I am at the end of the main mantra tree for each character and I am about 90% on a second. Seems to me I need to master each character's weakness.

I find it mildly annoying that money is in short supply. I have ended up wasting a ton of AP by not being able to afford the next mantra. Essentially it seems to be a pointless added cost becuase they couldn't think of any other compelling thing to spend your money on.
You can get a lot of money and experience grinding in front of the door for the second version of beelzebub. Mastering weaknesses is a good idea, as is having one character learn Ragnarok. Void ailment is way too hard to get to make Cielo a viable character--so I'd consider ditching him. Actually, you can even ditch Heat as well and just go crazy with the other three. Gale seems to learn everything quickly--so definitely consider having him pick up some of the most expensive skills.

And, yeah, if your having difficulty, consider having one character learn null element. It might 'ruin' the game so to speak, but by the time you're on the last boss, it hardly matters.

Seriously love the mood, look and feel of this game, and the soundtrack is amazing. Unfortunately the game is a bit one dimensional compared to other SMT titles. I was also planning on beating all the bosses but got to a point where it was just grinding for skills/money, and all I wanted to do was finish it. Be prepared.
I actually have Serph, Gale and Arguilla at 52ish with Cielo and Heat at 40ish for those exact reasons. Cielo is totally useless in the final dungeon, and using him is almost a guarantee of being ambush derped.

I have been working up Heat as a Physical skill character and I guess there might be a few situations where switching him in will be beneficial, but I should hopefully have all of the elements on my main party of three with overall healing ability and a smattering of death and ailments. The only real weakness I see at the moment is a lack of buffs and debuffs on my main party as I was going down that route with Cielo.

Yep. Great story, unique gameplay, good-decent voicework. Final day is tough as nails, too.

New five minute version of the SMTIV trailer. Battles look pretty crazy. Hope it doesn't go overboard .

Whupped that last boss and decided to move on to the second game. Didn't bother with too many post game bosses as I can do them all on the next run in ng+. I was enjoying the story too much to bother with a twenty hour grind fest in between.

That was pretty much my take, although I don't see myself ever bothering with NG+. Glad to actually see the end of a SMT game in under 100 hours. I had started working toward those optional bosses (did 3 of them), but chickened out and just finished the game.

Yeah, DDS1's ending demands you get to DDS2 ASAP. I didn't enjoy it as much as 1 on a second run, but it's still great. Best battle music.

Also, the uber bosses are best fought on NG+. Hitoshura will break you.

I ended up getting Persona 4 Arena, judging the game only by videos and what I've read here.

Played it a bit with friends... at first it seemed to be a very simple game (even if a fun one anyway), with autocombo and stuff. But playing online with a friend, even beating him most of the time, we both were getting only F- grades, adding to what I had already read here, it made me think I probably wasn't playing the game properly.

So I went into the Lesson mode .... and then I was shocked with the large amount of stuff you can do with the game. So now I want to learn how to play the game better, but I still hadn't the time to get deep into it.

But I liked the game a lot so far. For the record I am a big fan of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, but didn't like Blazblue that much

I went ahead and picked up Devil Survivor 2 from Amazon since they dropped the price to $20 a couple days ago. I guess I'll play Overclocked and then 2. I have never played a SMT game before but I picked them up because I understand that they are dungeon crawlers. I'm not really into JRPGs too much so I am hoping they are not at all FF or DQ type games.

Uhhhhhh, the Devil Survivor games are turn-based strategy. FE-style field meets P3/P4-style combat. Nice pick though; I personally think they have the better mechanics in the series.

If you want a dungeon crawler that's not merely a brainless JRPG, get Nocturne and the first DDS.

So more along the lines of FF Tactics? That is fine with me as I liked that game.

If you dug FFT you will more than likely get a lot out of both Devil Survivor games. If you want Megaten dungeon crawling action on your DS make sure you pick up Strange Journey.

Hello old friend/thread.

New SMT4 trailer looks awesome. Really hope we see the game b the end of the year.

In the meantime, got an email that my preorder of Etrian Odyssey 4 has shipped, so I might even get it around release date. Stupidly excited about videogames again after far too long.

Love the music on the SMT4 page.

Have a feeling I'm gonna be quite excited with the DS3 when I finally pick one up.

Don't like the twitchy Strange Journey style monster sprites. They seem.. even twitchier this time around. Makes me feel nervous, and I dunno if fake animation adds that much to them.

Dunno; they're in a easy spot where they have 3d models for all of the pokemon, and they could do animated pre-renders if they wanted to. Would that have looked like ass?

I don't think they started doing 3D devil models until SMTIII, and then they started reusing the hell out of these models. With Strange Journey (aka SMTIV) and SMTIV (aka actually SMTIV) they've gone back to sprites, which is nice.

Rumor has it that Atlus will be reprinting the two Raidou Kuzunoha games in the US and making them available for 30 bucks each: take this with a grain of salt for now, though, as we're still awaiting further info on the rumored localization of Mamoru-kun from the same site.

Reprinting a PS2 game in 2013? Does this have any precedent?

It reminds me a little of how the PS1 Dragon Ball GT game was reprinted in 2004.

Unfortunately, the Raidou games aren't very good. Nice aesthetics, though.

If memory serves they reprinted Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for PS1 just a few years ago, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Eternal Punishment was released on the PS in 2000, but there was a PSP port of Innocent Sin in 2011. (this refers to English localised versions)

yes, but bulletmagnet is also right: atlus printed new copies of eternal punishmentand and sold them over amazon around the time p4 was released iirc
