Joystick replacement for Egret II
Joystick replacement for Egret II
I have a joystick that acting up. Its not too responsive when i move top left or top right. I was wondering if someone can give me some advice. Is it an easy fix? If so how can i fix it? Or should i buy a new joystick unit? Thanks
Re: Joystick replacement for Egret II
The switches are probably failing. A new joystick wont cost you much...it's really easy to replace them.

If you take a picture of the joystick (under the panel) we can easily tell you exactly what type of replacement part you'll need.djphaze wrote:I have a joystick that acting up. Re: Joystick replacement for Egret II
Looks to me a Sanwa JLF (correct if I'm wrong), so it should be easy to disassemble and replace the microswitch. Here's a youtube video how to replace a microswitch on it. You might want to check the PCB beforehand for noticeable damage on the connections.
I would recommend the OEM switch that goes with them

Re: Joystick replacement for Egret II
Expensive micro switch, you better buy a complete joystick and replace it.
Re: Joystick replacement for Egret II
Where in the world are you? If you're in the US, you can buy a new JLF PCB here: http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-tp-ma-pcb-assembly/ Get a new spring for it as well, maybe grease it up a bit and you should be good as new.

Re: Joystick replacement for Egret II
I had to replace one of my Sanwa JLF's recently (same as your stick). It is definately not worth just replacing the microswitches although that really is the only part that is failing almost with certainty. The reason I say this is because you may get the angles wrong when resoldering. For that reason I would get a whole new set of switches already soldered on the board or of course the whole stick.
I used to buy from lizardlick but something must have happened to them.
From what I understand http://www.focusattack.com has become quite reputable within the fighting-game community so give them a try.
