A dear friend of mine, who happens to have a business building and painting figures and kits, just gave me my finished White Ikaruga model. The black one is being built. I'm actually working on the same model kit myself. I seriously doubt I'll be able to come anywhere near this level of workmanship, but this is certainly very inspiring.

That Ikaruga model looks quite superb, especially in the miniscule level of detailing. Is truly the work of a master model builder indeed.

Back in 2000, I was browsing at a Japanese hobby model shop in the Akihabara district. They had many professionally hand-built & hand painted/airbrushed Gundam models on display enclosed in a glass display. The cheapest one came with a 30,000 yen price tag and a few others in the 100,000+ yen price range (for those big-spenders out there). There was a sign nearby that was written in English: Yes, We ship completed models worldwide. I didn't inquire how much such shipping would be via EMS though -- perhaps an arm and a leg oughta be enough as compensation?

I am lucky to have him locally indeed, he does have a lot of international work though.

I need to build a display for it, and the black one when it comes. Do you guys have any suggestions or links for ideas regarding this? I am looking for either a shelf in the wall, with some kind of glass cover.

Pretty solid build. The panel lines are a little sketchy in some spots and there are a few seams. All that matters is you're happy though.
