PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
Now you have lost me.....
If you have a VGA lead for your 360 why are you bothering with SCART RGB and the Sync Strike. Your monitor is multisync so take advantage of the VGA signal direct from your xbox.

Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
I wanted a 15Khz signal for the natural scanlines. I can tell you it looks 100x better in 15Khz RGB than using VGA at 31Khz.fagin wrote:Now you have lost me.....

The 360 plug on the OEM Microsoft xbox VGA cable has alot of pins removed so i wasn't sure if it could be hacked to enable 15 Khz.
Also im doing this because ive just purchased some astro city cabinets and ill use the cable with viletims jamma adapter

Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
You won't get any scanlines with the 360 @ 15khz..... it's an interlaced picture. VGA @ 640x480 is way better. Add a SLG3000 and you have the best solution for the 360 imo (using a tri-sync monitor).
You must be the only person who "prefers" an interlaced picture to a progressive one at that resolution.... but each to their own if that's the case.
Anyway.... assuming you want to stick with the RGB SCART carrier:
Your monitor appears to accept composite video for sync, so I would try making up a lead that goes straight to your monitor from the 360 (or via a SCART to DSUB lead). I have no idea why your monitor does not like the sync signal from the sync strike.
Just breakout audio (using phono's) from the lead you make up.

I looked at the SLG3000, was going to try it out and see how it looked.

You can see the scan-lines on that image. Not sure if its my monitor or not but in VGA 480p it looks alot more 'boring' lol

Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
The only reason you see scanlines in that image is because the camera is only capturing one full frame of video, which is 240 lines. However in real life your eyes are seeing interlaced lines of video...... fake hi-res. There is a whole world of difference (looking wise) between what you are seeing with 480i and what 240p @ 15khz looks like.voona wrote:I looked at the SLG3000, was going to try it out and see how it looked.

So for 360's what is the best way of connection to get an ' close to authentic' 280p @ 15 Khz image?fagin wrote:The only reason you see scanlines in that image is because the camera is only capturing one full frame of video, which is 240 lines. Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
It is dependant on your target device. Since you have a multisync monitor with dsub15 connection and you already have a 360 VGA lead..... it's VGA all the way. If you want to create a scanline image, the best way is to use a SLG3000 to give you that retro 240p scanline look.
You can create a pseudo 240p image with an RGB SCART output from the 360, but this involves another box of tricks (Extron RGB interface) and you will still have a slight flicker to the image. For the 360 I'd maintain that the VGA to SLG3000 to your arcade monitor, is the least amount of stress.
Unless you use more devices after your SCART connection, you will always only have an interlaced image which is 480i.

Read Fudoh's website..... it will save my fingers!!

As regards to the dual sync monitor connection..... a UVC if you want to utilise 15 & 24khz, or Extron Emotia if you're only interested in 15khz. However..... you'll probably have more chance of getting "An audience with the pope" on your favourite Saturday night TV channel, as these devices are like getting hold of hen's teeth.
Another solution is RGB SCART -> Sync Strike -> Extron RGB interface -> Arcade monitor. This will be easily achievable (RGB interfaces can be fairly readily available and cheap) and will give you pseudo 240p 15khz output to your arcade monitor.

Also considering I'm about 5 mins away from the place that sells these?

Further to this, whats the best way to get a 15Khz 280p image out of a dreamcast ?
VGA into scan-line generator similar to 360 ?

Price is definitely over the top, not surprising though. Everything made here in Australia is taxed to hell by the Government.Fudoh wrote:Genius box ? Very promising! My review will be ready in a week or so!Whats the general consensus ?

So.. Say i use viletim's adapter using SCART RBG into my cabinets ill be getting 480i @ 15khz ?fagin wrote:Read Fudoh's website..... it will save my fingers!!

You guys are saying it will look 'better' on a genius box / emotia / uvc because it's scaled and 240p ?
Is that correct?
Re: PAL Xbox360 to Sync Strike -> 15Khz
I have no first hand experience of Viletim's adapter, but as far as I know you're correct in your statement.
Nothing is scaled by using a scan convertor. The scan convertor takes a progressive image (in this case a 480p signal for example) and converts it from 31khz to 15khz. This can be displayed as an interlaced image or for this example a true 240p 15khz image with natural scanlines. If you want to convert say a CAVE shump title on the 360 to what it would look like on a 15khz CRT if it were a PCB, this is the best way to do it for a target 15khz screen.
Hope this helps.
