I disagree with this sentiment in general. I originally came here for the shmups, but lost interest in the genre a while back (possibly temporary), but I stay for the community. This really is the best board out there, IMO, for general gaming discussion and miscellaneous geekary.

Thank you! I don't even know where the anti-OT sentiment is coming from, but as a member who has been with this forum for a stupidly long time (early 2000s?), I didn't feel like moving on just because my tastes in games changed (and my reflexes slowed.)

As for Skykid...jesus, that guy has been around a long time and is a major contributor. There's a point I saw through a lot of his opinionated swagger and realized he doesn't take himself as seriously as other people do. Friendly to me is harmless. Maybe worthless too, but I was actually interested in learning about the ps4.

The forum generally seems more pleasant and sensible when British people post, so yeah. Also factoring in the absurdity of ostracising people within such an increasingly tiny Western sub-genre. If the admin team let people constantly run a hostile agenda, goading and haranguing other members on such a small forum, what do they expect when they answer back? By "getting" if you mean "has annoyed the fuck out of me for at least 3 years" then you are right. Personally, I don't use FB as a soapbox, and wish my friends were the same. THey're not, and I have them on all sides of the preaching spectrum.

I log in to see what people with similar tastes have to say about new or older games. It's rare to find anyone in day to day life with similar taste in anything, for better or worse.

My only memory of friendly is that I mentioned that I was Jewish and he used that opportunity to pull the "I'm superior to you because I'm an atheist" card with zero provocation. His username certainly wasn't accurate.

That actually really pisses me off. I identify as both Jewish (cultural/genetic) and an Atheist (and sometimes slipping into agnostic mode when I feel like it ).

Can't leave this uncommented because it's not true: Back then RNGmaster wrote in another thread that he can't turn on his computer on Saturdays because God told him not to, which I called moronic (paraphrasing). End of story, nothing about any form superiority. I saw something stupid and pointed it out. A kneejerk-reaction, perhaps. But I feel that way too often, idiocy is ignored or tolerated because it is "part of someone's culture"; which is precisely the reason why humanity is evolving at snail pace.

Anyway, interesting example of how people tend to remember things the way they want to, instead of how they really happened.

This thread made me realise I'm bound to be in the minority, but...bring back Friendly! As far as I can make out, he tried on numerous occasions to get the mods to step in and do something about his cyber-stalker. Would be nice to have an extended break from Skykid's childish sniping. I admit I'm no real contributor to these boards (just another lurking cynic), but for fucks sake, in what sense does continually telling people their opinion is wrong and taste is poor qualify as useful contribution? It's designed for one thing: whipping up drama in order to direct attention towards oneself. I think the term is trolling. In that regard, no different from Siren-calm.

Like I said, I'm in the minority, so I'll just go back to sleep now...
