If you compare your video (gold in the first and second chest) of the second stage dungeon to this video of the PS3 version, the chests at least doesn't give the exact same items (here gold in the first, potion in the second): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOfNqfi19QA so maybe the PS3 port is different or the randomized stuff isn't very random?system11 wrote:Yep, 360.
I uploaded a video, you can see the item distribution there and may notice the sound hiccup from time to time - the port is doing that, nothing to do with youtube/capture.

Maybe, in the first level the chest and key locations have been the same on every single try though - including dungeon ones. Thought I was going crazy and tried it in MAME, I'm not going crazy.

I did some testing and, from what I could gather, the items are fixed when you do a Score Attack run. If you change to japanese version, the items are different from International version but they also don't change on later playthroughs.
On Arcade mode, the items were also fixed, but when I changed the option to insert credits, they suddenly became random. Weird.
Well, it doesn't really bother me. I suppose it's annoying for someone who has the PCB, but for the rest of us who are playing it for the first time, it's just a minor detail.

By the way, I reached round 7 today and there's one platform at the end of the level I just couldn't reach. Tried jumping a lot of times but couldn't make it, the platform is just a bit too high. Lost all my lives stuck in that place.
Is there a trick to do that jump?

Yep, pull lever diagonally up while jumping. This game has three different jumps, the jump while moving in a direction, the jump from standstill then move and the diagonal jump.Ruldra wrote:By the way, I reached round 7 today and there's one platform at the end of the level I just couldn't reach. Thanks a lot! Didn't know about the diagonal jump.
Re: "Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for PSN and XBLA
I thought about this and for scoring runs, fixed items makes sense as to make the game fair, right?Ruldra wrote:I did some testing and, from what I could gather, the items are fixed when you do a Score Attack run.

I've just been playing normal arcade mode.

How is the "Bonus Game" unlocked on the 360 version?
It doesn't really say anything apart from "when certain conditions are met"

Actually I'd prefer no randomization, but that thing with with insert credits is just sloppy imo.Ruldra wrote:I did some testing and, from what I could gather, the items are fixed when you do a Score Attack run. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the games pan out before I plan to buy the full pack in late May.

Buy every game.

I've been playing this on Xbox360, in score attack mode, and the contents of the chests in Black Tiger are random.
I also love the dot-by-dot mode, which will display the graphics accurately without any stretching on my Sony trinitron CRT telly. This is one of the best emulation collections I've seen in long time.

I keep getting the exact same things in the first 2 chests and all the pots leading up to them. Every single time. I even started suiciding immediately after checking.MJR wrote:I've been playing this on Xbox360, in score attack mode, and the contents of the chests in Black Tiger are random.

Er.... I don't even know how you managed that. Capture quality depends on a lot of things:exquisite_torture wrote:My video quality's rubbish. What have I done wrong?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_PD--Ql5cA
1) Type of video file used
2) Resolution of the capture
3) Resolution of the game internal rendering
4) Type of connection used
5) Capture equipment used
6) Compression level of the video sent to Youtube
My 720P captures are the best it's possible to get, so not an average benchmark. If you're crazy and want to copy what I'm using, you'll need to set the 360 to 720P, build a PC with a HDMI capture card and seriously fast storage, then record videos in raw uncompressed AVI - this will produce files a few hundred GB in size which I then turn into Youtube friendly format with Sony Vegas, compressing them down to a few GB instead (can be smaller if you don't use sky high bitrates).
Shamefully borrowing a screengrab from someone's Ginga Force video - here's what his 1080P HD PVR (or similar probably) came up with:

And here's what my uncompressed 720P recording came up with:

You can see a big difference despite a lower resolution, due to the elimination of scaling and compression before processing.

Oh those. Yes they seem to be same, but after that it's random. I remember the same happening with capcom classics collection. So what you are saying is that in Mame/PCB version, the first pots and chests are always random?system11 wrote:I keep getting the exact same things in the first 2 chests and all the pots leading up to them. Re: "Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for PSN and XBLA
Yep, sometimes you end up with a key deficit or find gold in them. There's no point keys even being in the shop now with that one small change. Actually the level 1 dungeon chest is always a flame trap too, pots near entrance mostly keys all the time.MJR wrote:Oh those. Yes they seem to be same, but after that it's random. Ah.. OK. I didn't use a capture device, I wouldn't use it often if I owned one. I only bought Arcade Cabinet on PS3 because it supports Youtube uploads and I thought it'd be at least of the same standard as Pixel Junk Sidescroller's upload facility. I was really looking forward to getting some practice in and recording a Ghosts n'Goblins run.

Re: "Capcom Arcade Cabinet" for PSN and XBLA
I would guess so as the whole thing looks more like a retail Classics Collection where the individual games are been sold piecemeal before allowing gamers to buy the full pack for 2000msp when all the games are out.SuperGrafx wrote:So wait a second...when the full games pack comes out in May, that's it?TrevHead (TVR) wrote:

Wow the PS3 version does that? Nice. IIRC Rockin Androids doujin PSN ports had the same feature.exquisite_torture wrote:Ah.. OK. I didn't use a capture device, I wouldn't use it often if I owned one. Complete collection of this is out now. Tried buying it on the UK PSN store but it kept throwing up an error. Guess I can wait a bit longer to see if they fix it...
