Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ ~2.2GHz
Video: 512 MB Radeon X1600
RAM: 2 GB DDR2 RAM
Main OS: Windows XP SP2 Media Center Edition

I'm long overdue for an upgrade, but the only trouble I've ever had in running 2D shooters is in dealing with the high requirements needed to emulate certain arcade hardware at full speed (ST-V, NAOMI, and other 3D boards). I'm glad shooters are not a demanding genre power-wise.
Of course, that's just an opinion.
Always seeking netplay fans to play emulated arcade games with.

Processor: Intel Dual Core E2160 1.8 Ghz
Mother Board: Nforce 680i SLI (manufacturer MSI)
Video: Nvidia GT 520 1GB DDR3
RAM: 2 GB DDR2 RAM
OS: Windows 7 (had Archlinux on dual boot but my new GFX card has some problem with DMA, so no X)

And this what I game, code, watch 1080p movies, etc.
No problems running any stg apart from sh3 stuff, DMC4 slowed at full settings, F.E.A.R. (only FPS i like) ran at half quality
The thing is more of a server, because its on all the time apart from power outages (so in the last five years, this thing has been on for about 3.5 years)
At one point I had windows server 2008 installed on it which is an awesome OS
once i was stress testing the system, so i started playing dvd quality movies simultaneously, it croaked at tyring to play 16 movies at once...

My computer from ~2007:
Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00 GHz
1GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7200GS 512MB

I have to lower the settings/resolution for stuff like Akashicverse, RefRain, and Alltynex Second if I don't want major slowdowns in some sections. Thankfully, STG's don't typically have high system requirements, so I can play many of the interesting ones on this outdated computer.

Raidmax Tornado
Antec Earthwatts 430
Asus M488TD-V EVO
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 2.8GHz
Onboard Radeon HD 4250
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR3 1333
Western Digital 500GB
LG DVD+/-RW
Acer 22" Monitor
Windows 7 Pro x64

This runs every shmup out there with no issues whether they're emulated or PC releases. I don't play resource intensive PC games, so I have no need for a discrete video card.
