CPS 2 blank screen of death?

Post by maxlords »

Just popped my CPS2 Tower of Doom in today and I got a blank white screen. No anything. Tried both my motherboards, nothing. Figured it had suicided so I took out my Phoenix chips, cut off the battery (no leakage) and swapped em out. Blank blue screen when it boots up. Am I missing something? I swapped out ROMs 3, 4, 5, and 7, which is what I was given. 1 and 6 are still original. AFAIK the Phoenix just works, no other tinkering. Could something else be wrong with my D&D Tower of Doom?

Thanks!
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art

You could try shorting EXC3 and EXC1 for a few seconds each by the pins on the back of the B board and pull out and reseat the sound program rom(s) at 01 / 02 but I don't know if that will for sure fix it. Worth a shot.

Sometimes you have to swap more than the phoenix roms if a game was originally a different region from your phoenix roms but I don't think that is the case with ddtod.
