Stumbled across this A Link to the Past - Parallel Worlds hack thing, tried it out and was amazed to find that it's actually worth playing. (I'm stuck in that stupid first completely dark cave, though - is it a bug or is it suppsed to be completely black? if so, that's a tad on the shitty side from a game design perspective if you don't mind me saying so). About to try a couple of Mario World hacks, among else the exquisite looking The Second Reality Project Reloaded.

Super Metroid Redesign. Some people particularly don't like the physics modifications (stronger gravity, and walljumping is only possible on specific walls), but what I played of it looks like a pretty impressive "master quest" sort of design.
