different versions of saturn shooters?

Post by fullblownaidzz »

i've noticed while looking on ebay that there are 2 versions of many saturn shooters. One of the cases is normal, and the picture takes up the whole case, whereas in some of them they have a white border around it and the picture is only centered. Is there any difference between the 2 versions?

Saturn Collection (often abbreviated as Satacore or Satakore).

Only different in manual cover and disc design. They're basically the budget-released Greatest Hits of SS games. They're not highly regarded by collectors but they're the same games.

The Satakore version of Souky is the best version to get if you're using a AR+ to play Jpn games. The original version has issues with the AR+ and even some Jpn Saturn BIOS versions. Garbled text and other oddness occur.

And it's cheaper too. Hurrah.

Actually, Soukyugurentai was not a Satacore game. It was a special Otokuyo version that EA put out. Nowadays, the original and Otokuyo versions cost about the same (~$30).

Also, the Otokuyo version comes with a demo of Battle Garegga and a couple of music extras.
