Lenkeng LKV363A composite->hdmi opinion

Post by Packie »

Hello, yesterday I got Nintendo 64. I connected it to my LCD Samsung B550 through composite, and image was blurry and awful. After doing little research (this is how I got here) a found out about hardware deinterlacers and scalers. But my budges is rather low, and stock in shops (even on internet) in my country is not impressive. Only interesting device I found is Lenkeng LKV363A (link:http://www.lenkeng.biz/Html/Product/hdm ... erter.html). It is in my budged bounds and it is available in one internet retailer. But I didn't find any opinions/reviews of this device. Hazard-city.de mentions about other Lenkeng devices, and opinions are fairly good. Does anybody have any experience with this device? Is it good for me (in near future I may also get PSX)? Or maybe you have other solution for my problem?

I live in Poland, and yes, my TV has VGA input, I used it to connect my old PC once or twice.

If you have PAL 50Hz sources, you need to use either HDMI or the component input of your TV. For 60Hz NTSC sources, you can use VGA as well. You should be able to source a proper home cinema linedoubler like an iScan Pro for about the same money the Lenkeng would cost you - while providing MUCH better quality.

You should also increase your output quality as far as possible, which means using a s-video cable for your N64.

Thank you for your quick reply, but your message is little confusing for me. You say that VGA can be used for 60Hz NTSC sources, but 50Hz PAL not. iScan Pro has VGA output, so I can't use it for connecting my PAL N64 to TV?

The iScan Pro's output can be used for VGA (60Hz only) or Component (50Hz and 60Hz).

I looked into iScan Pro manual, and if I got it correctly:
1) you need to change output color space to YPbPr,
2) connect device through VGA->Component cable (or VGA->BNC and BNC->RCA adapters).
This way I can connect 50Hz devices, right?
