just wondering if there is any good shmups literature out there, magazines, books, anything?

Most anything you can think of in Japanese. Nothing in English aside from Pyongyang's upcoming project.

besides, i will stay in japan in august for 3 weeks (third trip there within 4 years), where to look for some books?

Du kannst ein paar Bücher bei Cave lesen, z.b. Cave Shooting History, ein ibara Comic, dann ich mag Shooting Gameside, es sieht gut aus, aber man muß Japonisch sprechengbaplayer wrote:japanese books will be fine. some links?

Ich habe ein RECCA Superplay gekauft, es hat ein Buch auch, man kann die Strategy und Übersicht lesen.
