What Under Defeat version will you buy?
What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I'm undecided yet. Got it on DC though.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I already own the DC version (well, 2 actually, one RE and one LE), and already have the 360 LE on pre-order. I might add a regular edition PS3 copy to my order later as I do want to run comparisons between all three releases (I don't own a "dat triple", but I know plenty of folks with one who'd be more than willing to let me use theirs).
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Seems odd to make a poll that only lets us select one option. No double-dipping allowed!
I'll wait for some user reviews to see if dual stick mode is cool enough to warrant another purchase.

Fixed that. Thanks.
Will probably go for 360 since I have most shmup on there. But it's cool to have a retail release on PS3.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
PS3 for me.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I'm buying it for PS3, too. Shmups on a region-free system must be supported. This anti-consumer region-locking bullshit needs to stop.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
No edition. I was originally going to buy it, but the fact is that I don't really love the game. It's fun for a little while, but there's no scoring gimmick to keep me coming back for more.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Probably 360 for me. As much as I'd like to support a PS3 release, none of my cabinet/vertical monitor setups have a proper connection that a PS3 could hook into.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I have the DC version and I don't really enjoy playing it much, so I don't plan on buying another port.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Since the 360 is hooked up to the tate CRT for all my shooters already then I guess that version.
PS3 I use for current-gen fighters.
I would imagine most people will be saying this.

Shoot, I didn't know there was a 360 disc release for this... I'll get the 360 disc

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I already have the DC Ltd Edition which I purchased brand new when it was released, and the PS3 Ltd Edition is currently on pre-order. Absolutely love this game.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Due to the fact that my best stick is a PS3 stick, it wll be the PS3 version for me.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I shelled out for the DC version this time last year and don't own a PS3 or 360, so that's me sorted. I love the game to bits but am not going to buy it for a console I don't have.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Same. It's great though that there's a widescreen remix mode. Whenever you play vertical orientation games on an HDTV, you wind up with a miniscule sliver of screen area to play on and huuuuuuuge chunks of wallpaper to each side.TransatlanticFoe wrote:I shelled out for the DC version this time last year and don't own a PS3 or 360, so that's me sorted. Humans, think about what you have done
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I have the regular and limited on DC. I opted for the limited on 360 and the regular on PS3. Love the game. One of my favorite game on Dreamcast.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I clicked this thread hoping to find something that would magically make up my mind for me but I'm still undecided. I've had the Dreamcast version since release and it's one of my all-time favorites but the idea of re-buying it at current exchange rates seems really extravagant. The only benefit I see in getting a 360 version is that it'd be playable on a console that's always hooked up to my CRT as opposed to one of the many dusty Dreamcasts floating around my house. The port itself doesn't seem to offer any advantages. It'd be fun to collect the achievements though!

Hmm, no region free on Xbox, then I'll wait and see if the eBay Dremacast prices slip back down a bit. Game does look nice. Seems military themed, like Zero Gunner 2, with polys. Never played a G-Rev game before; am intrigued.

PS3 vs 360
Tough call: now that I can use my PS2 Saturn controller on either system it's a coin toss.
LE vs. RE
That's easy: the LE seems worth the extra cash; only worry is whether it's worth the extra space it would take up.
360 or PS3 LE vs. nothing
This is hard: Don't love the game, but I'd love to support a shmup release. Am I right that this is the only thing on the horizon?

Mushihimesama HD and Sine Mora should be coming out relatively soon.

If you enjoy region-free, you should buy the PS3 version as a matter of principle. Given the choice, I don't buy region-locked games; it sends the wrong signal.professor ganson wrote:PS3 vs 360

And as we all know 360 is dead in Japan anyway, so good PS3 sales might encourage more PS3 shmups... (we can dream, can't we

The PS3 version has one more advantage; you can use Sega Saturn USB pads to play PS3 games.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
Good point, Friendly. I use PS2 Saturn pads, and I have adaptors for both the 360 and PS3, so I'm good either way. But the region-lock thing is pretty annoying, and I like the PS3 hardware better generally. So I guess I prefer the PS3 version in the end.
I am wondering, though, whether it will be any improvement to play this vert on my HD tv, versus playing the DC version on my tate-d tv. Just doesn't seem like it's worth $100-- especially for a game I don't love.

Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
My tate-d tv is about 20 inch and has s-video input. I use it for console vertical shmupping.
My HD tv isn't the sort of thing one would tate. I assume that's true for most of us. It's one thing to turn a monitor on its side, quite another to do so with a screen that's close to 40 inches.

PS3. Thank you region free.
Re: What Under Defeat version will you buy?
I own the PS3 version, but unfortunately, after playing a lot and watching many videos I verified that this version has a ridiculous amount of slowdowns as the video below (made by me) shows quite clearly (as for example from 03:06)

From what I could observe in Youtube's videos, the Xbox 360 version has much less slowdows, so I think it's the best HD version of this game.
