Games you're looking forward to in 2013

Post by MOSQUITO FIGHTER »

I'm probably going to get these.

Metal Gear Rising
Ginga Force
DDP SaiDaiOuJou
Caladrius

Seems like it's going to be a slow year for games other than shmups. Anything else interesting on the way in 2013?

My most anticipated games are Ginga Force, DDP SaiDaiOuJou, Ni no Kuni (released 4 days ago), Beyond: Two Souls, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, The Last of Us, maybe God of War: Ascension.

Just looked up The Last Of Us, you can add that to my list - looks like it could be quite good.

Can't support this micro-transaction bullshit. A $60 game in which you are sold virtual items like in a free-to-play game is just not right. Yes I know, I don't *have to* buy thm. But who can guarantee that the gameplay wasn't re-balanced around the micro-transaction crap (using "micro" in a very liberal way here, most of the stuff sold to you costs $5). This "pay to win" business is a disturbing trend that has no place in video games. Nip it in the bud. Vote with your wallet.

If they balance it in favour of transactions even the gaming press will bite them, gaming journalists bitch about any small level of difficulty after all. I played the demo and it was dropping ammunition/etc like candy.

This however is a crock of shit:
Online Pass $9.99
I make a point of not trying EA games online now and reselling them when I finish 1p inside of a week.

I think I should have sorted my list differently. Beyond: Two Souls (by the Heavy Rain developers) is probably my most anticipated non-shmup of 2013.
By the way, there is also a new Dead Island game coming up, Riptide. And Yakuza 5 will be brought to the west this year.

Any chance of Ni no Kuni coming to Xbox? That game looks rad. I also forgot to add Neo XYX to my list.

Haven't included any PSP/Vita or Wii U games cus I don't see myself getting any of those consoles in the next year, but some cool stuff coming out regardless. Also, I imagine I'll only end up playing a handful of games I HAVE listed, but we'll see. I'm still catching up with the last few console generations...

Games I'm excited for:
Dodonpachi Saidaioujou - The most obvious Game of the Year ever
Yakuza 5 - If it gets localized.
Bayonetta 2*
Dark Souls II*

*at least until more information and gameplay videos start coming out

Games I'm interested in playing:
Metal Gear Rising - I'm not a big fan of the demo, but this should be decent enough.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - I'm sure this will be a bad version of a bad version of the best action game ever, but I've got to play it anyway.
Zwei
Ginga Force
The Wonderful 101
Killer is Dead
Earth Defense Force 4
Resident Evil 6 PC
Soul Hackers

In order of importance:

Distant Worlds: Shadows
Europa Universalis IV
SDOJ

DW is probably the best game I have played in my whole life, no kidding. Every new Add-On is like ten new Cave games. I'm also very excited how EU4 will turn out.

Looks like a fantastic gaming year to me!

Same as what I was looking forward to in 2010, 11 and 12. Games that were released over 10-20 years ago.

If I haven't played it before then its new to me.

You really shouldn't support EA by buying any of their games firsthand. It's not tough to pick up a used one a couple of weeks after release.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.

Screw those autists who are thinking less of this game for not being a 'serious' competitive fighter it looks phenomenal as an anniversary tribute.

Hopeless Masquerade too, even though it's not an official release. Nice to see this sub-series become what it was originally intended to be.

Dead Space 3. It's the only franchise I ever look forward to from any of the big developers.

I've mostly just covered my ears and ignored the microtransaction bullshit, planning to never buy any of it and just enjoy the base gameplay, but it's such a scummy nickel and dime system. Of all things to tack it on to, why Dead Space; a franchise that is essentially NOT multiplayer. Anything that isn't free or an entire new chunk of story/gameplay doesn't belong as microtransaction for a singleplayer game.

I can overlook it for the most part, but it's still a slimy system in place to trick extra dollars out of people dumb enough to purchase any of it, even if it's "not required."

The correct reaction would be not to purchase this game (new). Otherwise you send the signal that you like to be screwed, and want more of it.

Resi 6 PC
Resi Revelations
Aliens: Colonial Marines
"X" (the apparent Xenoblade sequel)

Suppose it's a good time to go through the backlog and finish stuff I never got far with (like Dead Space 2 and Crysis).

See: Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and day 1 squadmate DLC. Does anyone expect anything else of EA?

My list is pretty lame so far:

- Disgaea D2 (and even that is iffy, not sure if I have time for another 200-hour grindfest at this point)
- Fortnite (which I suspect will end up a 2014 release anyway)

So it's entirely possible I could end up with a list of "None of the above". Then again, we've heard hardly anything of what Orbis or Durango will bring, but I suspect they'll both have fairly weak launch lineups anyway.
We want you, save our planet!

Yeah screw those who have standards.

Must plays:

Guilty Gear Accent Core +R
Arcana Heart LOVE MAX!
Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Caladrius
Ginga Force
Skullgirls (PC)
Phoenix Wright 5

If they actually happen:

The King of Fighters XIII and KOF 2002 Unlimited Match for Steam
Dark Souls 2 (probably 2014)

Just for curiosity:

Resident Evil 6
Dead Island Riptide
Dead Space 3

I'll send that signal by paying no attention to the microtransactions. Not going to skip an entry in one of my favorite series' just because theyre steadily adding more cash grabs, and making a horror game into an action game, and STICKIN' IN THAT MULTIPLAYER........sigh. At this rate, it's only a few sequels away from a free-to-play action/horror MMO with buyable cosmetics.
