Caladrius - Xbox 360 shmup from MOSS

Post by Tokyo-J »

Coming out April 25th in Japan for Xbox 360

From Siliconera

"Xbox 360 is getting another shooter on April 25 and this one isn’t an arcade port. Caladrius is a brand new shooter with a gothic horror setting. Suzuhito Yasuda, Durarara!! and Devil Survivor artist, designed characters for Caladrius and Basiscape handled the music. Moss, the makers of Raiden IV and NeoGeo Heroes: Ultimate Shooting, is the developer and publisher.

Caladrius also has an original story and full voice acting. The game has an Elemental Shot System that lets you customize your ship when you level up."

Not in to the gothic lolis (lol, 'horror'), but after the excellent Raiden IV I am pretty excited for another MOSS outing!

Not to be "that guy" (ok maybe I am), but I don't see one loli character in this.

That's because there aren't any, he's just being an insecure faggot.

Anyway, this announcement came out of nowhere. Hope to see some gameplay footage soon even though it'll mean nothing unless it's region free.

Instantly more interesting than the Sine More spiritual sequel. Good to see the 360 getting yet another original shmup, the console really lucked out for the genre.

Sounded more interesting in my head than it looks in those screenshots, but I hope it's really good.

I didn't like Raiden IV that much though, outside the cool twin-stick mode. Mostly gets shelved in favor of Fighters Aces. Dunno what Moss's team is like compared to Seibu.

I'm always down for anything horror-themed though.

MOSS is Seibu Kaihatsu. Seibu Kaihatsu is simply an IP holding company now while the developers work under the MOSS name. And Raiden Fighters Aces was put together by Gulti, not MOSS/Seibu, a company which somehow makes the same sort of claim as MOSS ("The founding members of Gulti include the core development team from Seibu Kaihatsu’s Raiden and Raiden Fighters series.").
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Looks good enough. Raiden IV was good, and is the same character artist as the Devil Survivor games.

I hope this will play on a North American Xbox 360 at some point.

Me too ... I'm seriously reconsidering my stance on hacking my new 360 ... way too many good games that I can't play on it right now.

Are you referring to Gunhound?

But yeah, lots of STGs coming out on 360 again. Ginga Force, Caladrius, DDP SDOJ.

Oh yea, can't forget Ginga Force, add Qute to the list. I probably should have listed G.rev as a port. My brain must be overloaded with excitement.

Right, that's the thing. I know Moss consists of some/all of the Seibu team, I just don't actually know what their makeup is.

Anyway's I'm mostly saying that I love Raiden Fighters but am lukewarm on Raiden IV, so I hope this is a really great title because I love horror-themed games.

Just saw the Siliconera article; yeesh, this thing just popped up out of nowhere. Always good to see a new shooter, though I'm eager for more details on how it plays...

I've played pretty much all of the Seibu games over the years and I always have troubles fully getting into them. True to form, I am excited to see this new direction but I'm not holding my breath. Kind of reminds me of Ikaruga visuals. I definitely find the visual style more appealing compared to previous outings. Either way, more great news for X360 owners.

I'm excited about this, it'll be interesting to see what they'll do with their own intellectual property. I'm hoping it'll be more Raiden IV and less KOF SkyStage.

Unfortunately S.Yano retired sometime after RFJ, and he seems to be the guy who was holding everything down at Seibu. Moss has done pretty well for themselves but I can't say I'm a huge fan of most of the stuff that's been coming out of Gulti (other than RFA).

This is one of the very interesting original IPs I've been waiting for. From the screens, it looks like the selection of attacks will be plentiful too.

AmiAmi already has it ready for preordering.

Wonder if this will get picked up by UFO without the Raiden brand name recognition? I think Moss makes pretty solid games. Looking forward to playing it.

More stuff on this game on famitsu, less microscopical screenshots for one - http://www.famitsu.com/news/201302/04028203.html
I wonder how the game works, it's giving me a Giga Wing vibe, are the mechanics mentioned in the article anywhere?
