Is the new place CHI mentions related to the old Heart of Gaming, or some other venture?

Looking on this thread from afar...

You are out of the loop for a few months (maybe a year or so ) and before you know it The Casino you know and loved is on its death bed.

I'm down in London on Sat the 2nd of Feb and was hoping to pop in for old times sake but now it looks like it could be a wasted trip?

There's not much left - Mushi and Progear I think - We should have a farewell Casino party.

That photo looks like a modern Last Supper, with James as Jesus basking in the center under the lights.

James is the Jesus of Casino! CHI's the Virgin Mary, and hzt's a piece of frankincense. I've no idea what any of that means.

Who's down tonight then? I'll be there as early as 6pm this time!

And m0nks - I'll keep you in the loop as per your trip and it's worth. And, as ever, you're welcome to stay at mine.

Seems pretty much like that's the case. It seems fairly certain it's being taken over by a fruit machine chain, and it seems unlikely any cabs will stay. And, almost certainly, even if they do leave a cab or two, we'll loose the chance to be involved in what games go in the cabs and when.

On another tip, I do like the sound of a Casino closing party. I guess that would involve getting intoxicated in the arcade, and then going out on the roam?

That's pretty sad, I wonder how many decent arcade places are left in the UK now

Firebug should try and rent the pool room upstairs... I still think there is money to be made at Casino.

We should all chip in and open our own place. Internet cafe with a row of cabs at the back - girls on rollerskates serving coffee and Chi can make the bacon rolls.

I'm supposed to be dog sitting today :) but will try and drop by.

Edit for grammar... and that I can' make it.

I can't make it tonight. Stupid PayPal glitch means I have literally no money. Think I've got it sorted out now, but we'll see. Urgh.

Anyway, I have a US 3DS now, hooray

There's 2 in Edinburgh, but it's a stretch to call either of them good :(

Unreal. Finally, after all these years, the London arcade is really off.

What a damn shame. I'll miss Casino.

As opposed to Casino, which was one of the healthiest places in London  . Just sniffing the carpet would kill the average Joe.

We got to get something together people, spring is on the way and my hibernation is coming to an end...

Hi mate! Sorry I missed you posting. It would have been great to meet up! How'd Progear treat you?

dan76 wrote:We got to get something together people, spring is on the way and my hibernation is coming to an end...
We'll find somewhere. We need to inspire a local pub around that area to install a couple of cabs. That would be great! When I first got properly into shmups I was playing one of the Aero Fighters series in a cab in a scruffy old pub in New Cross - it was a great setting for arcade games.

Thanks to whoever put Mushi in downstairs, made my lunch break a real treat. Shame the screen is bust but the bullets are a lot clearer than they were when Strikers was in there.

That was as a result of my Strikers 1999 PCB coming out. Glad you like the replacement. Me and CHI are all over Maniac mode these days, if you fancy joining us on a Thursday night.

On that note, who's down this Thursday? I am! Probably for 6 or 6.30pm.

Anyone still alive? I can't make this Thursday - how about another day of the week? Anybody down Wednesday or Thursday.

We really seem to be in the final stretch now. And then we're all just moving in with hzt.

Hmmm. Valentines Day this Thursday. Could maybe make Wednesday? Very mindful of the fact that the Arcade's going to close very soon indeed...

I'm the same. Really don't want to miss the last ever meet; can't make Thursday (not because of Valentine's Day in my case - I'm off out with my father-in-law. Might try to get off with him considering the date).

I could do Wednesday. In fact, I'll be there Wednesday. See some of you there?

xxx

(Kisses for Valentine's Day).

This is really sad news :( Me and two friends have been going to the Casino for about a year now. It was wonderful to find a place with great games right under out noses. My mate was really into the fighting games and I would play the shooters, I was actually working on my 1cc of Progear recently just for the Casino :(

Thanks to everyone that lent PCB's and their time to making it such a great place. Im a new comer to shmups generally and it was awesome to be able to play DoDon Pachi, Progear and Mushihimesama in the flesh.

Dan I believe I bumped into you there a year ago, and you directed me to the forums. Sadly I never got around to joining up and now Ive missed my chance! I could certainly use some tips, and it would have been nice to join in on the community.

I'm hoping to get up to the Casino tomorrow or Thursday if anyone is around, say 7ish?

Cheers
