This is almost as irritating to me as hearing people use the word 'like' as a form of punctuation. "I, LIKE, went to, LIKE, the mall at, LIKE,..." etc. I remember listening to a girl on the bus talk about her grad course, and mentally tallying how often she said the world 'like' frivolously. She was up to 15 times a minute. How the fuck does she expect to be treated like anything other than a fucking imbecile if she can't slow the fuck down and not stop using the word 'like' all the fucking time just to fill in gaps in her sentences?! During the entire ride I swear she only used the word 'like' correctly a total of once.

Anyway, Youtube has been pissing me off lately. they have about 5 or more ads per page, and their new layout has everything squashed to the left, so it seems even more cramped! Video wise, the kinds of videos that annoy me the most are videos of gross blemishes or something, like acne being popped, a vid of a satanically disgusting foot infection of some kind, etc.

The only one of those that might be valid is "epic blockbuster movie". Maybe it was 4 hours long.
But yeah, "epic" is the new "awesome". It's not grand in scale as a word anymore.

Depends on how it's done. I really do hate that SGI-look in DKC though. Over-rendered plasticy junky nasty stuff. Reminds me a lot of early PS1 FMV stuff [the plasticy and way over-rendered without actually looking that good bit].

Mario Kart 64 actually used pre-rendered sprites pretty well though. The racers and most items were pre-rendered.

Yeah, I've noticed the ghetto production values of Cave's later era stuff. It is kind of sad when with modern shooters you have only the equally venomous choice of either ghetto realtime 3D graphics or even more ghetto pre-rendered sprites. Well actually that extend to pretty much any "modern" game with 2D gameplay.

Cave's earlier stuff like Do Don Pachi looked fantastic though, for what it is worth.

Remember how back in the day people went bonkers for Donkey Kong Country because it was, yo, check it out, Silicon Graphics on the Super Nintendo, radical! Today looking back, you put something like Metroid, Super Mario World or Link to the Past next to Donkey Kong Country and it looks like a big pile of shit. Hell, it looks like big pile of shit even when put next to most 8-bit games.

Still plays well though.
