STRIDER PCB - Need photo and info

Post by exidy »

I picked up 2 Strider PCBS missing all the roms on the top board.
Wondering if someone can post a picture of a complete pcb and tell me what roms it uses so I can re-burn them.

thanks!

I have two Strider CPS1 PCBs. Both of which have different rom configurations as one has about double the number of chips as the other. Thankfully one of them has the updated prg rom with the BGM fix so that the first stage BGM isn't cued instead of the correct BGM in various parts of the game. I can post pictures of both later if that's still helpful.

Would be great if you can post a pic of both versions.

Both of the boards I got look exactly the same.

I have some pics but they aren't very clear:

They probably have other issues if someone pulled all the roms.

Im not thinking they have issues.

These boards came from a warehouse all their spare boards were robbed of their roms to fix other games.
I bought a Tiger Road missing a z80 and it worked 100% after throwing one in.

By the way, thanks for the link!!!! thats exactly what I needed.

But the mask roms can't be reprogrammed. So if they are missing the likely reason would be to remove them from a broken board. The extensions of the rom names in mame sets can generally tell you locations too so long as they came from a set with the same B board type you are using and that is usually noted in the source. The erasable eproms are a different story and could be used for whatever. For replacing mask roms on those you usually need to look at the etching on the board under where they go. It might say 27C4096 or it could have some other code and need 27C4000G or something else. Also on CPS1 boards for rom areas that call for 27C010 chips, there can be jumper settings that can trip you up. Depending on how they are set you might need non-jedec types like 27C301.
