The "Fascinating Shmups Anecdotes" Thread
Yesterday I went to a friend's party, we played Guilty Gear, Tetris New Century and even some IIDX battle matches, it was fun and laughs until:
When I was playing Ibara Kuro Black Label, a guy asked me "Do you know Touhou? is much better and harder than this, you should watch some videos, you need to be a real pro to play those games"
...
Party ruined.

Just let them play a fast bullet / normal hitbox game. Something like Raiden 1 or Sky Shark. It's hilarious watching trash talkers get slaughtered on the first level of a "n00b game with only a few bullets on the screen".

You forgot about the other one with all the chibi characters. And the gigs of Touhou remixes. And lots of other things Touhou is, um, well known for.

Music is a whole different matter, it's Supersweep and Tsukumo's fault for doing awesome 2hu CDs.

Are you sure the guy wasn't a troll? I can't fathom how anyone could watch most Cave games and not realize it's above Touhou in difficulty.
Either way, I would have just handed him the controller and be like "YOU". Then go and boot up Darius Gaiden and make him play that afterwards.

This. Seriously, it's one thing to run your mouth, it's another to actually have played the game to decide.Squire Grooktook wrote:Are you sure the guy wasn't a troll? I can't fathom how anyone could watch most Cave games and not realize it's above Touhou in difficulty.

Probably the same thing that prevents people from seeing Lunatic is above most Cave in difficulty.Squire Grooktook wrote:I can't fathom how anyone could watch most Cave games and not realize it's above Touhou in difficulty.

Yeah but most of these kind of people don't play Lunatic lol.Erppo wrote:Probably the same thing that prevents people from seeing Lunatic is above most Cave in difficulty.Squire Grooktook wrote:I can't fathom how anyone could watch most Cave games and not realize it's above Touhou in difficulty.
The two most stereotypical Touhou fanboys I know, never play the game off easy. One of them once said while watching a Cave game "Bullet Hell? More like Bullet Elevator Music LOL".

Later he told me that SFII's prequel wasn't a fighting game, SF1 was an American game called Final Fight.Squire Grooktook wrote:Are you sure the guy wasn't a troll?

Re: The "Facinating Shmups anecdotes" Thread
Generally speaking, people who can 2-loop clear CAVE games and Lunatic clear Touhou games don't talk like the conversation in the first post.
I have yet to meet a developer tard who plays games seriously (as in, a person who won't shut up about how developer X makes the most hardcore games ever and everything else is easy). Touhoutards ... Cavetards ... Treasuretards ... really aren't that different in how they start conversations.
