Ok I've installed the MC Cthulhu in my Naomi Universal stick:

Image

Only thing left is the Home/Xbox button. I know it's on the turbo panel (at the top-right in the photo) -- does anyone have a pinout of the connectors on that panel?

Edit: Ah ok, if you ground the 'HOME' connection on the Cthulhu, you can use start+select as home/guide. Problem solved!

Yeah. I kinda winced once I got the page up on their store.
I buy my stuff from these guys....

Just like the different styles. Cutting square holes for Neutrik stuff sucks, so I go with the SwitchCraft stuff...

Got inspired by this thread to finally do some artwork on my HRAP EX-SE. The black base was looking a bit scratched. 21 hours Photoshopping the image, 2 hours to hand cut the template (1/32" laminated cardstock), and 1 hour to install the artwork.

I'm happy how this turned out especially taking apart the stick for the first time:

Thanks guys! Had to go through many revisions and digging of Deathsmiles images to get to the final artwork.

Off topic, but quick interesting fact when I did this:

The gameover screen in Deathsmiles is St. Peter's Basilica (dome above the baldacchino). Which is Baroque style not Gothic. I wonder why they used it when they could of used a dozen other Gothic buildings. anyways. . .

After finding a similar model's service manual I found what all the adjust knobs do on the component board and was able to tweak the image a little. Unfortunately I don't have a test field so I just used NAM-1975's game screen. Even if it's not perfect I can tweak it more later, although this seems to have helped a fair amount anyway. Dunno if the camera has picked up the image that well though.

A few questions/suggestions:

What made you decide to have the art extend over the top of the plate all the way onto the enclosure?

Have you thought about replacing the colored buttons with something a little more flush?

I was inspired from your post so I threw together a few concept designs myself. My HRAP EX-SE is also peeling a bit so I think I may go ahead and replace the overlay. I'm also considering getting a plexi cover, perhaps one without so many buttons because I almost never use more than 4. We'll see, this is my first attempt at some designs. I'm aware that the sizing may be a little off, I was mainly just playing around with ideas.

Double post time. I worked on some custom Blast CP overlay art that I'm thinking about printing up.
Thoughts, suggestions, flames...?

Missing the cheesy sega slogan(s) like "High definition 3D sound with stereo display.." and the 2p panel needs some yellow arrow keys with 1p/2p Start prints as well.

Ahhh that's right, couldn't find any yellow arrows, but this sorta works I think. Not sure I'm going to bother with the "fine print"..

here's a different background layout

Several reason why I extended it: I didn't like the white border around the black base. The artwork was already cropped way to much to fit the joystick in the center of the "rose window." My name would not have fit and half of Follet, on the lower right, would have been cropped out :)

I'm actually thinking of getting some Seimitsu clear purple buttons and a clear purple ball top, but I have no clue what is available. Any suggestions on sites?

10mil lamination on 80# cardstock work for me and it was cheap to do (6.00$), just as long as you have a way to cut it. My hand was very sore when I used a X-Acto knife.

Thanks.

I'll take your suggestion and replace those buttons even if they are 1 years old:

I better hold off in ordering since two of those shops are near Hurricane Sandy.

yes, half of it.

I was going to use St. Vitus Cathedral from Malice Mizer's Bara No Seidou album. But the images I have limited the design so I based it off of Notre Dame (for the color images) and the Washington National Cathedral (for contour lines).

Here is a joystick I am currently building for use with my W.I.P. Supergun. It uses plexi from tek-innovations. Really digging it so far.

Converted a versus city 1P panel to an Astro City (repro overlay). Had to make a new harness for it too, since I wanted to keep the original panel intact for swap-ability.

I bought it from BIGTIME over at the Neo Geo forums. The print quality is very nice, but the greys isn't that shiny/sheen-like inking that you see on originals. It's still a pretty decent repro and for the price I'd say its worth it.

Yeah it's not bad, I would say it'll take a decent enough beating. But, it's only a little thicker than a regular vinyl print, but nothing like the poly-laminate stuff you can get. But BIGTIME's second run of prints is apparently thicker, more durable stuff than this. I think he's supplying this as an option, but the cost is slightly more. PM him over at neo-geo about it.
