Movies you've just watched

With some films, the audience is rewarded with a bonus scene if they sit through the entire ending credits but such due patience is required. In DJ's case, the ending credits scroll by a tad bit faster so it's not as long in Tarantino's previous films.

I reckon that all those deleted scenes will be "extra icing on the cake" when DJ is finally released on Blu-Ray & DVD formats down the road (making the original alloted 2h & 45m theatrical film running time even longer).

I think I'm the only guy who always sits to the end of the credits if the film was good. I feel like it's respectful to the guys who made it, and it really irks me when people get out of their seats the second the last scene ends.

Plus it's nice to glean a bit of extra info as to the locations used where the film was shot at, 3rd-party special EFX companies used (especially with power-house KNB EFX based out of the U.S. for horror/gore films & the like), etc. during a film's ending credits.

Damn, I think my friend just sold his second copy he found. Django Strikes Again has always been one of my favorites with it's groovy score, brutal deaths, lepidopteran Connely, and the perfect love letter to the days of the Spaghetti Western. I wrote an essay on it many years back that seems to have disappeared. I've seen it come up a few times in town and I'll let you know if I ever see another. Although I hardly leave my house anymore.

For those wanting to check out the old Django movies, my only caveat is that they aren't anything special within the body of Italian westerns--in fact, it is most memorable because the name was stolen by anyone and slapped onto any movie. That said, the original Django isn't bad and includes some pretty absurd imagery. Some of Corbucci's other films are great too (especially The Great Silence), and is probably the most interesting director in this genre after Leone.

On the other hand, fans of Django Unchained might want to check out Mandingo, or just consider becoming a blaxploitation fan in general.

Yeah, one must really understand there are only two official Django movies: Django and Django Strikes Again, which isn't really a western. Corbucci is awesome, as is Sollima. After them it was pretty much just a random bunch--like the majority of Italian directors of the time--that dabbled in everything at least a couple of times. Margheretti, E. Castellari, Fulci, etc. Leone is easily the best director of the bunch, but I'd be lying if I didn't say Corbucci and Sollima have more of a special place in my heart.

On the other hand, fans of Django Unchained might want to check out Mandingo, or just consider becoming a blaxploitation fan in general.

For that I can always recommend the king of swing, DOLEMITE. He is indeed one of the baddest motherfuckers this world has ever seen, and is definitely one of the three most manly men to have ever lived.

I have the DOLEMITE box set myself. The original never gets old.

Ah. You know, that really cool song in the trailer of Django 2 doesn't even appear in the movie! At least, I think.

I like Django 2 more for its complete and total dissonance with its forebear than anything else, ha ha. It's still a lot of fun. It's like a Capcom video-game take on a sequel to Django: Django, retired gunfighter, must travel to the tropics to stop the iron ship of death from enslaving and killing the natives and rescue his daughter along the way.

Yeah, that's really about it. I thought there was another but I was mistaken. Pretty much just did Western and Euro-crimes, which are also worth seeing. I've actually yet to watch Face to Face, even. Kind of hard to get a decent copy it seems.

Street Trash - 1/10 -> 10/10

I'm still not even sure what I watched here. It was impossible to look away. It may even be essential, or something you should avoid entirely. Homeless people melting. Vietnam flashbacks. A plot, somewhere. A severed penis and circus music. An end theme sung by a two bit mafia boss in character. Beards. Some terrible acting. Implied necrophilia. A cat.

You should probably just watch it.

I love this movie I have the 2-disc Special Edition from Synapse. I gave this to my brother for his birthday. It's the perfect Troma movie that wasn't made by Troma at all. You also need to see The Deadly Spawn... released by Synapse as well



It's some of the best 80s Drive-In Schlock ever made.

Hahaha, I was thinking about Street Trash at work earlier today. Yeah, that Synapse release is stellar. Quite a fun movie that I haven't watched in a few years. I also second the recommendation of The Deadly Spawn. One of my favorite monster movies. Perfect for a rainy day.

I watched Direct Action and Machete the other day. I pretty sure that Dolph Lundgren is who Capcom drew the inspiration for Cody in Final Fight from. I liked the part in Machete when the car with the hydraulics bounced on some dude. That was pretty cool.

Well, I mean, he could also watch The Stuff, which is a properly well-made film by Larry Cohen (same guy who did Q, The Winged Serpent). It used to be OOP for some months and then it resurfaced/gurgled its way up to the Amazon market again... like "the stuff"

"You guys got any of THE STUFF?" Easily my favorite Larry Cohen film. I used to work at Dairy Queen when I was younger and would constantly quote it. I bought it for a curious co-worker when that Anchor Bay DVD was super easy to come by and only about six bucks. He fell in love with it instantly and claimed to watch it almost every night. Our friendship kinda faded into obscurity after I left my crap shift-manager position and we went our separate ways. I didn't seem him for probably two years, but when I did he was wearing a The Stuff shirt. Made my day. We're still good buddies to this day <3.

I have it and watch it once in a while with family and friends! It was definitely a weird allegory to sexually-transmitted diseases/infections that were just beginning to happen in the late 70s and early 80s. All those early Cronenbergs were totally awersome. His best one is one of his firsts: Shivers. I've been trying to track down a cheap copy of it for a few months now

Can't get enough...of The Stuff!

I saw The Stuff back in 1988. Ma', her youngest brother (my uncle), and I used to be Horror movie fans, so we'd rent all kinds of weird shit. Actually, it was she who rented The Deadly Spawn, Street Trash, and The Stuff for everyone to watch! I don't even know how I got away with watching half of that crap as a kid.

Not surprisingly, the second remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is worse than the first remake and much worse than the original... and chicks flocked to this thing like it was a sale on Coach purses

I can see why religious people were so very upset with it, it's pretty strong even now - in fact it may even be worse in our new 'OMG WILL SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN' times. I watched the 2000 extended version although the theatrical came in the same pack.
