Weird Issue with ABT-102 card.

Post by ceramiclion »

I recent bought a VP30 with a n ABT-102 deinterlacing card installed. I had to wait a few weeks before a suitable power adapter arrived from overseas and today that I tested it. I ran into something I had never seen before. The display would blink in and out into a black screen and I thought maybe my power supply was bad but after running some tests with it, it seemed to be in good working order. After a few minutes of frustration and sorrow I decided to remove the abt-102 card from inside the unite and voila! everything displayed correctly.
I noticed my unit is running on firmware 1.10 so I was thinking of re-installing the abt-102 card and then updating the software to see if it fixes the problem.
Any idea what could be wrong here? any solutions? any additional software needed for the abt-102 card?
Thanks!

did you re-install the ABT102 in the first place ? The card can easily become a little lose in transit which can cause malfunction.

Your FW should be fine, it's far from the newest release, so you should update to 1.14 eventually, if you have access to a PC with a physical RS232 port. Don't try using USB-RS232 adapters.

Yes. I have a pc with a rs232 port.
The unit came with the card already installed. I'll try blowing it with compressed air before installing it and see if that works.
But there's not additional software that's needed for the abt 102 right?
Thanks man you always save my life.

no, there just was minimum requirement for the FW version. That's why there was a CD included with the card. But I think it was 1.07, so you're good.

Well, I did everything I said I was going to do and unfortunately the issue remains. I think the card is messed up. It really is a shame but I still got a VP30 for a low price...
