X.X's games (such as Blue Wish resurrection)

does anyone else play X.X's games? care to share replays and discuss various things? (ugh, I'm no good at starting topics at 4:20 am)

a list of the games I found are as follows:

green wind
blue wish
blue wish resurrection
blue wish resurrection plus
edens edge
edens aegis

I've been able to 1cc all of them on heaven mode except for edens aegis. that one is harder than the others. its also a real shame they don't have storylines, because some of the characters and music are pretty good.

speaking of music, does anyone know how on earth he got the final boss theme of BWR to sound different than the version in the folder? (the songs name is Prophet) its very strange. I think maybe it happens with some of the other songs, too, but I only noticed for this one because I fell in love with the ingame version instantly. pretty much all of the music is by Cyber Rainforce, whose songs are pretty popular in freeware bullet hell games as far as I've experienced.

They're really good games for beginners to the shmup genre, but I don't think they're especially deep mechanics wise.

what do you mean? if you mean scoring, it varies on complexity depending on the game.

I've played BWR, BWR+, and Eden's Aegis. They are really good games, but Eden's Aegis will remain my fav out of all of them.

Concerning the final boss theme, as far as I know in the music folder mp3_end_point.mp3 is supposed to be the final boss theme with mp3_energy.mp3 as the True Last Boss theme. I think Prophet might have been an extra unused track.

I haven't tried Blue Wish, Green Wind, or Eden's Edge though - might have to give those a try later!

Just be careful with Eden's Aegis though. I'm not sure if it's for the other games, but the game has an anti-cheating system. If you leave the window inactive, pause the game, or have the game slow-down a lot without slow-mode, you will not be able to enter your name into the high scores or even save your replay.

Eden's Aegis is just about painting enemies with the special shot and then blasting them, and not dying as it fucks up your counter value.

Blue wish is about pointblanking enemies, bombing bullet spreads to force your counter up and not dying.

I just mean they're hardly the deepest games in the genre, but as I said before that's exactly why they're so good for new players. BWR was one of my first clears and I still go back and play it from time to time as it's still really good fun 4 years later.

yeah, the anti-cheating system in that game has fucked up my 1cc twice now I think. its not my fault if the game is slow by nature. I blame X.X for being stupid enough to put an anti-cheating system and fail at it so miserably. if people want to cheat, let them. its their problem if they want to ruin their gaming experience.

Eden's Aegis Hell mode is the shit. It gives you loads of suicide bullets to avoid off the bat, and the fucking boss patterns are like shmup boot camp. Play it with autoguard off for extra fun

And enemies have lifebars, why has no arcade dev implemented this? Would have made Galuda and Progear better for sure.

Derivative, certainly, but fun as hell. They're the way CAVE novice modes aught to be. Folks pine after Ketsuipachi, but you can get Futari.Ra.De & Mushiketsui for free.

For a forum with so much Cave fandom, I'm surprised that the general consensus (that I've witnessed) is that these games suck.

(Psst! They're indie games in the style of Cave's offerings. Production value aside BWR could be Mushipachi....)

The only legitimate complaint I've ever heard leveled at these (free) games is that their graphics suck. Some people are just spoiled by how easy it is to pirate professionally-made games these days.

These games are great, they are some of the games that got me into the genre years ago. Yeah, art is turrible, but everything else is really impressive IMO, some of the best freeware shmups I've played.

Playing BWR+ at the moment. After a few credits, I was able to 1cc original mode. I really love the soundtrack of bwr+. I also tried BWR, Edens Aegis and Edens Edge, but can't say much about them atm. I really like X.X's style of bullet-patterns and the "flow" of the games.

Btw, I also downloaded Blue Wish and Green Wind, but those two won't run on my setup and I only get some gibberish note which mentions something like "0.5" and then gives me an empty window...

Edit: btw, does anybody know which mp3 in the bgm-folder belongs to which stage? I'd love to experiment with some music - although the original soundtrack (in BWR+ at least) is already heartpoundingly good.

Thanks Kollision, I might try this one time. But atm, I'm pretty absorbed playing BWR+... with my own custom psy-trance soundtrack.

I never knew how much of a difference a kick-ass soundtrack and a good pair of headphones could make...

It's like I'm instantly "getting in the zone"....



Though my score still sucks... 23 mill on original, wait and otobomb on... But it felt very nice to 1cc this game.

X.X games were the first games I ever played that were considered to be shmups 3 years ago now! blue wish resurrection plus gameplay and the BGM are perfect together and they are personally very cool to me.
