Hi guys. This is probably going to be my only post but I figured if anyone would know about this it would be the users here. I have Shikigami no Shiro EX for PC, and I'm building an arcade cab and this is the last game I would like to ad to my setup.
So, the question IS: Is this game 2 player? Because for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to have a second player join in, yet it says on the right side of the screen press A to start for player 2. No matter how I configure the controls none seem to register for player 2. Alfa System should of taken that text out if the game is not 2 player. It's driving me nuts. I even downloaded virtualjoy to simulate a second player joystick in the game with key strokes and still no dice.
Thanks!

At any rate, it might answer your question?
protip: Insulting people with your 2nd post on the forum is really fucking dumb.

Re: Question with Shikigami no Shiro EX PC
I was under the impression that not many people play shmups 2 player at all.
Anyway, have you tried playing around with the joystick options under the file menu? That dialog seems to imply they kept multiplayer in.

It wasn't really insulting. Just impatient, perhaps.shmuppyLove wrote:protip: Insulting people with your 2nd post on the forum is really fucking dumb.
A lot of people here don't play shmups cooperatively. Bit of a shame as there's some games out there with good mechanics (scoring included) that work well for co-op. PC local coop is even more rare as generally computers are setup with chair + desk, so doesn't work so well with multiple people.
If the game is freely available I'd fiddle and try and get 2P side working, but I've honestly never even played the SnS series before.

BareknuckleRoo, thanks for the response, I'll probably just emulate the ps2 version instead of trying to get the PC version to work with 2p, but the PC version offers English translation so that's why I was really anxious about getting this to work.

I've never heard of/used virtualjoy. Have you tried Joy2Key? I use that for a few games.
Does the game allow you to use 2P side without 1P? Most arcade games let you play on either the left or right side of the screen without needing a second player, have you gotten something like that working and are the controls actually registering?

Re: Question with Shikigami no Shiro EX PC
On the Taito G-Net arcade platform, Shikigami No Shiro was released as a dedicated Taito G-Card cartridge and offer the player to play either as 1P or 2P easily and offer simultaneous two-player capability as well. Of course, it's presented in native 15kHz low-res format.
Shikigami No Shiro II was released as a dedicated Sega Naomi cartridge running on Sega's Naomi arcade platform. It can be played in either high-res or low-res formats via a switch setting (and utilizing a Sega or Capcom I/O if going the low-res route).
And as for Shikigami No Shiro III, it's a 480p high-res game with a Type X HDD and security USB dongle key setup (but can still be played on a low-res arcade monitor setup via a Sega version 1 or version 2 I/O or even a Capcom I/O setup as well) running on the Taito Type X arcade platform.
