What are you most looking forward to w/ shmup genre in 2013?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

The above topic thread says it all.

I'm looking forward to the day when Cave makes good on their promise with the 360 port of DDP-SDOJ. The overall values of the SDOJ PCB kits will still retain their high asking prices for the time being when it occurs.

You sure? I thought I heard that when Futari got its port finally the PCB price had a noticeable drop; I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened. If it did, I'd feel bad for the PCB owners, but I still hope the port rocks.

That's the ultimate price to pay for being an SDOJ PCB owner if it does drop considerably in value. It's all part of partaking in the exclusive arcade shmup PCB hobby. On the bright side, if Cave does add some extra 360 SDOJ gaming content to spice things up, it'll be for the betterment of shmuppers.

If & when Cave officially announces it's next arcade PCB offering for the 2013 season, it's always major news.

My hope for 2013:

All current shmup developers stay in business in 2013.

Astebreed is pretty much the only one. Ginga Force is something I'll want to hear opinions about first. Maybe Astro Port will surprise us with something new.

On the bright side, having a slow year for shmups will give more time to play and appreciate the ones I already have.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Show a good SDOJ 16:9 port and then continue to make new 16:9 Tate shmups.

Absolutely nothing. The one arcade developer I really respected is dead and none of the other established quality producers (MOSS, Alfa Systems, Taito, certain doujin developers) have announced anything.

As long as it's not on the Vita I'm all right with this.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Looking forward to the Crimzon Clover arcade port, as well as whatever changes it may bring. Also can't wait for the new title from NG:DEV. Hopefully there's a doujin title being worked on now that will dazzle us all for 2013.

Raizing collection
Psikyo collection
Kaneko collection

Then I woke up.

For now, Ginga Force since I really liked Eschatos and I'm curious about the new game mechanics.

Sturmwind finally turns up.

In the absence of any PC action, that leaves Neo XYX and anything else which might make it to the DC.

I'd like to see shmups take a more creative side.

Sturmwind on DC, Ginga Force on 360 (Eschatos was brilliant imo) and hopefully a couple new iOS shooters from Llamasoft.

Agree with this. I'd love to see the arcade port of CC make it's way to the 360 as well. I wonder if there's any word on the aspect ratio of the game in the arcade version?

Hopefully, CAVE will output a new arcade game too.
