I got Shikigami no Shiro 2....What is going on?
Strange untranslateable text on the screen.
What is the game's storyline?
What is the game's storyline?

if you're gettin strange char sets on your game, means that you DONT have the japanese cahr compatibility on, so, you better use somethin like AppLocale, or set up your windows in japanese recognition, so it can show u the japanese chars the right way.MichiyoNoShiroIV wrote:Strange untranslateable text on the screen.

Probably a problem with Freeloader. The best solution is to mod the GameCube with a region switch. Freeloader has text problems on some games. The save menus in Mr. Driller Drill Land have that messed up unreadable text too. Also, some games, including that Drill Land game I mentioned, have problems with saving with Freeloader too.MichiyoNoShiroIV wrote:It's the Gamecube version I'm playing.

You live in Providence? I'm like right near you in Scituate.CMoon wrote:I can't believe no one has said it:
Dude, the text is completely, utterly meaningless, you aren't missing anything ('cept saving a few brain cells). Continue enjoying the game, and next time chose the option that lets you skip the worthless dialogue.
Still...if a Game has a story I'd like to know it.
I know Ikaruga's incoherent storyline.

Um... the Gamecube version was never localized. I was being sarcastic when i referred to the XS Games PS2 version, perhaps you thought he meant the XS version as well? Either way, the game DOES have a decent story. We're talking about gobbledy gook symbols replacing Japanese characters, NOT THE SHITTY TRANSLATION JOB BY XS GAMES.CMoon wrote:I can't believe no one has said it:

I know about the gamecube version and also the XS games version. I sorta assumed that the XS version was the actual game text translated to english--because that story IS a waste of time.Zweihander wrote:Um... the Gamecube version was never localized. If it is entirely made up and there's a whole different story, well then I am at a loss...
Indeed.MichiyoNoShiroIV wrote: You live in Providence?
Minzoku translated some parts of Shikigami no Shiro 2 from the Japanese text and I was shocked at how close it was to the XS games translation. Seriously, I don't think the translation is as bad as it's made out to be. I wouldn't go as far to say it's a good translation, but, oddly enough, much of it seems to a translation of the original text rather than a localization. I am wondering if Roger Buster's story was altered since it's pretty wacked out, though.
Anyway, from what I could make out of the story, the main characters are out to stop this entity called the "world order" or something like that. Many of the bosses are spirits controlled by the entity working against their will.

DC version has slowdown, Cube version has none. That was the big difference when I last played 'em side by side. There may be some modes or something in the GC that aren't in the DC, but I wouldn't know. It's been a long while.verbel1331 wrote:Is the DC version worth picking up? Actually, strangely enough, despite being a Naomi port, the GCN version was the first version released. The DC version actually has the same extras that made it to the PS2 version. The GCN version is lacking th extras of later home versions.PaCrappa wrote:DC version has slowdown, Cube version has none. That was the big difference when I last played 'em side by side. Don't you read gamefaqs or similar sites? That info can be easily found there. The extras are pictures for the art galleries (not sure if this is in the GCN one) and a special extra options menu to tweak the aspects of the game like game speed and bullet size (which isn't in the GCN version).MichiyoNoShiroIV wrote:Which are?BrianC wrote:Actually, strangely enough, despite being a Naomi port, the GCN version was the first version released.
