XRGB Mini Problems, Could SFC Official Cable be the problem?
XRGB Mini Problems, Could SFC Official Cable be the problem?
I just received my mini in the mail. I hooked my usa snes up with the official jp snes scart cable. It worked the first time I turned it on, now every time I turn it on it says "no input". I tried plugging it in with composite it works. Is it possible my rgb on my xrgb broke after one use? I can't believe it. If so, I'm bummed beyond return. Any advice?

Re: XRGB Mini Problems
EDIT: Anyone have problems with the official SFC RGB cable with a USA SNES? I'm in the USA so this shouldn't be a problem right?
I bought the cable new old stock, possibly the caps are bad? It worked once when I first turned it on. Then not for a few hours. Then randomly it worked once. Then after turning on the next time until now, no. When it was on the picture looked like it should.

I have a 1CHIP NTSC/U SNES and new old stock SFC cables as well. Nevermcould get them to work right either. On a CRT they give me a garbled image.
There is one other person on here with a similar problem. Might be the caps, I never bothered changing the ones on mine. Try changing them and report back.

Strange thing is I just turned on my Framemeister. The thing worked with the cable, image looked great. Then turned it off, and on. It didn't work just as before. It seems every 100+ times I try this, it will work once. I'm not changing any settings either.
EDIT: Get this guys. The remote doesn't work either. I thought maybe the batteries it shipped with were dead, bought some new ones and no red light on the remote, none of the buttons are responsive.
Looks like I got a total lemon of a box here. Never have I had a remote that didn't work. Just emailed Amazon.jp to see what I can do in terms of returning, unfortunately I am located in the USA though and had to use a 3rd party site as a middle man since Amazon.jp doesn't ship these to the USA. I really hope they can work something out so I'm only in the hole about 6,000 yen instead of having to do the entire middle man thing all over again. Fingers crossed. What a damn hassle.
I hope someone can chime in with some miracle fix for any of the problems I'm experiencing, namely the remote now. I'd probably keep the box if I could get the remote to work, since then it may just be my SNES SFC cable that's faulty. That remote not working though is icing on the cake.

I have an official SFC RGB Cable with no problems. Unless there is a problem specifically with the cable you own, I don't think that should be a factor.
Re: XRGB Mini Problems, Could SFC Official Cable be the prob
Would be quite a coincidence if the unit and remote both are faulty. I've heard a few people complaining about those official SFC cables and NTSC/U systems before, me included. The problem Is not isolated to the mini either as I use a CRT to play games.
I say try changing the caps on your cable if you can and see if that helps or not.

Yea, hope the unit is OK. I got a megadrive cable on the way, going to test it out to see how it works. If that works I am sure I can get a new remote from Micomsoft easy enough as it doesnt cost a lot to ship. I'm sure they have some sort of warranty on them, though I can't read their website as it's in Japanese.

Well great news for me. My remote is fine, I found out it was probably not working due to the remote being unable to be used right after startup/shutdown. I was turning it off and on trying to get RGB working. Also the whole trick where you hold the power button down for 3 seconds to turn it on. I wasn't holding it on long enough.
Huge sweat off my shoulders there. Now I got it narrowed down to a 99% chance its either my SNES rgb cable or the adapter that came with my XRGB, which are both easy to replace. Sega cable on the way, if that works, it just means I need some caps on that SFC cable.

Guys, now that my remote is working I got the unit working with RGB. I take the crown and your laughs as the biggest moron in the world when it comes to upscalers. I swore I was in RGB mode each time I turned the unit on by hand but it must not have been. Now that I am hitting rgb on the remote and now HDMI at the top, the Super Nintendo works each time. Really bizarre. Just tested ten times in a row.
Well I'm damn happy and it seems I was all stressed about nothing. These devices definitely have a learning curve. Haha.

Glad you figured it out - I hate having to use a remote instead of being able to use buttons on a unit. Also really cool to hear that it seems to be working with no sweat, because I was rather worried that I might have some complications if I ever tried going this route with my own SNES minis.
