Super Hexagon

There was some discussion in this thread, but this game deserves its own topic. It's an excellent, addictive game that's perfect for anyone who likes shmups. I'm hooked on it. It's available on iOS and Steam; I highly recommend people pick it up (it's only $3 on steam). I reckon a bunch of people on this board could tear up the leaderboards in no time. I also think it'd be fun to compare scores. Here are my times so far after about 15 hours of play:

Hexagon: 178.32
Hexagoner: 101.11
Hexagonest: 50.38
Hyper Hexagon: 119.51
Hyper Hexagoner: 84.35
Hyper Hexagonest: Locked :(

Walls constantly "shrink" towards the center of the screen, you hafta move the little arrow through the gaps to avoid getting crushed. I think.

Yes, that's exactly right, sorry, I should have explained that. It's a really simple concept, and obviously it feels a lot like dodging bullet patterns. The patterns themselves are premade, but the order they come in is random.

Watching the trailer gives me motion sickness. I can't even look at that shit. Why does every damn indie game have to shake and bounce the screen like the camera is being controlled by a jittery cokehead? D:

This game is fantastic, very addictive.
The first thing i thought while playing it was "this totally feel like a shmup".
The learning curve in this game is amazing, at first i couldn't last more than 15 seconds on the easiest level, and you think "well, this game is completely broken, i like hard games but this is just too much". But after an hour or so you start to understand the patterns, and this is where the fun begins, you start improve your highscores pretty fast. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment every time you beat your score, something i have only experienced playing shmups.
Everyone who likes shmups should play this.

I've been loving this game all week. I only have a few friends that play it, if anyone wants to be friends on steam, my handle is: cuttingagent
I'd love to have more listings on my VS. Friends leaderboard.

And too true, one of the first things I thought when I watched the trailer was 'this game was made for danmaku fans', The immediate difficulty is proof of the fact. Only kids play on easy mode. =D I bought a copy for my only IRL shmup buddy, and as I predicted he was instantly hooked, same with me.

It's pretty cool for an hour or so, but in the end it's just another Cannabalt style infinite runner with nice graphics and cool music. iOS-wise, I'd rather devote my time to Mushihimesama Futari Black Label score attack or DJ Max Ray. Still dig it out on the tube every now and again, mind.
