The features are crap, but I like the aesthetic and price. Great to recommend to people who actually want to play WII GAMES made for the WII. It's a sexy little box
Actually I just realized this thing is even more useless to me, because when I bought my original Wii, it was a JP version so all my disc-based games are JP. If this system is locked to NA, I have no games to play at all!
"There's a consumer out there, there are gamers who have not bought a Wii yet, and there are gamers who have a Wii and want a second one for the cottage, or the chalet, or whatever, who actually don't need the online functionality"
Yes, because all Canadians have cottages or chalets.
Also, who goes out to thier cottage or chalet to plug in a console? That goes against the whole point of "getting away from it all". When I'm out in the woods all I wanna do is fish, make s'mores, climb a rock and get drunk and stoned.

In much of the country, one would at least be invited to a cottage once in a while. Also, sometimes it rains and you're stuck inside for the day.
And hey, sometimes it's fun to play some games 'away from it all'.
So with no WiFi or SD card slot, that leaves USB as the only way to get data on or off the machine. Not a deal breaker, and presumably s-video is still supported so you can still get a decent picture out of it for a CRT.
I dunno it still needs to be cheaper to be attractive.

Does this thing have any USB ports? And what website would you go to to download VC games to any USB drive?

Farewell to hollow words
Farewell to fake affection
Farewell, tomorrow burns"

This thing costs the same as a Dominion base set and one expansion, but I think I'd rather take Dominion for a cottage trip. This hardware sounds way too crippled.

Yes it does have USB.
I won't go into all the details, but VC titles are available for download from yarr usual sources, and you would then use a WAD installer to install them into the Wii's internal NAND flash from USB.
Similarly, you could use a USB loader to play Wii titles from USB storage.

So theoretically you could load GameCube games but you would have no way to control them? Unless there is some new GameCube loader I don't know about which supports Wii accessories.
I really love the looks of this - and top loaders do rock - but the lack of funcionality is just terrible. And that thermal paste in the review pics looked more like blu-tac.

IMO this system is still junk.
You are correct sir!
Which is a shame really ... I was just playing some Super Monkey Ball the other day, which is at least as good as any Wii title.
Top loading is the sexy aspect of this Wii Mini. The design is quite nice also... but why that cheap looking plastic
I would buy one if I could, I don't care of the lack of Internet connection, this is plain and simple like the old systems are... a shame it's released in Canada only.
