Another saturday, another episode. And it was a pretty good one. RD was real cool. Rarity's prissiness was absurdly over the top, though.

Loved Rarity. Love the Scoot/RD story. Love the continued abuse of Sweetie Belle (poor filly). However I did not like the inclusion of Luna. I felt she added nothing to the story, was given a rather ridiculous power/job responsibility and having Scoot just snap and admit the truth would have worked fine on it's own, especially after the accident.

I don't know, I liked Luna's inclusion. It shed some light on just what it is she does during the nights she keeps guard over. It also showed a kinder side of her, and seemed fitting, given the subject matter. After all, who would know more about nightmares than the one who became Nightmare Moon? If anyone would have some good advice regarding how nightmares can affect your waking life, it'd be her.

I'm fine with how the Princess was portrayed, I just think it was superfluous. That and I don't like the fact that causing nightmares was Luna's job. It just seems like such a weird, out-of-place and awkward job requirement.

She wasn't causing the nightmare, she was guiding Scootaloo from within the nightmare the filly was having, by interrupting it (Luna destroyed the headless horse and talked to Scoots). Basically, Luna came into the dream of a troubled "subject" and tried to help her. That's what I got out of it at least.

My understanding is that Luna WAS the headless horse. Especially since it had her tail and she morphed into frame from it. I need to watch it again. Your description is a better job task, but that's not what I got.

Indeed, watch it again. You'll see Luna's behind the headless horse, her horn glowing as it's destroyed.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't Luna causing the nightmare, it was her coming in to comfort and advise Scoots.

Kind of like a nicer version of Freddy Krueger

Yeah, that one was great. Yesterday an old friend visited me with her 3 young kids in tow (2 boys, 1 girl). The candy cabs definitely got a workout, and I put the new episode on for her daughter. Eventually the boys, ages 12 and 9 I think, surreptiously stopped playing and watched too. According to their Mom, its a common pattern, hehe...

MLP Online released their sprites since the project is done with. That's kind of nice of them.

Daayum.

At the risk of causing a derail, has this happened to any other fan projects? Or was this one targeted because it could compete with the official money-grubbing IOS game?

Better tell the team behind AOTL to lay low, then...

There's a few things that I think doomed MLP Online

1. Yeah, the iOS/Android game
2. The fact that they were using the official MLP logo as part of the game's logo for the longest time, perhaps making it "appear" official

I think those are really the two major factors. I'm hoping Fighting is Magic is safe, but I think as high-profile as that one is, if Hasbro really wanted to target it, they would've done so by now. But we'll see.

Other than the writer seemingly not giving a fuck about continuity (it's like Spitfire had never met RD before), it was pretty good.

Well, it is an academy.....as a professional, she couldn't really give RD any special treatment over the others.

A simple nod would be enough... "Oh, hello again, RD. Think you have what it takes to get in the team? We'll see about that!"

Plus the fact that she gave no credit to any of Rainbow Dash's past feats, like the Sonic Rainboom, that she's seen first hand. Also, even being an academy, she just seemed like a totally different person. There's a big difference between being stern and being a blind asshole.

Yeah, I found this episode to be rather flat, though it was nice to see more of Granny Smith's past, baby AJ and more of Babs. Ultimately though the plot and pacing seemed very uneven, making the story seem both rushed and too drawn out. The song was also pretty uninspired.
